CHItransitFan88 0 #1 Posted May 30, 2011 So coming from Chicago I'm used to all CTA rolling stock having automated announcements regardless of age. Why Doesn't this ring true on the NYC Subway? or at least on the A div since there is a limited amount of routes using R62/A's which are newer then majority of CTA Rolling stock eg the 2200 2400 and some 2600's. I really love the NTT's but really all I care about is being able to hear announcements. So why the heck won't the MTA modify the cabs in the older rolling stock to have automated announcements? Ideally I'd love to see it on both Div's but realistically it only makes sense to do the modifications on the A Div since the number of routes is much more limited, and the R62/A's will be around longer then all the old B Div cars except the R68/A's. INDman 412 #4 Posted May 30, 2011 The ones that the CTA use are old technology that woudn't be worth the cost to install here. What they have is basicly an MP3 player that the RTO controls.
