This is a thread where you list all the bus models you've ridden in (MTA) New York City Transit Authority, (MTA) Bus Company, and (MTA) Long Island bus. You don't have to list the routes you've ridden these on.

Orion 5.501 = awesome

5.501 CNG = okay

RTS = cool (but overrated)

7.501 HEV = meh

7.501 CNG = eh...

7.501 NG HEV = ew

7.501 NG CNG = double ew

1998-2000 New Flyer C40LF = gold

D60HF = blegh

MCI DL3/D4500/D4500 CL = expensive

MCI Classic = groovy

Fishbowl = nice

Grumman Flxible = interesting

Nova LFS/LFS Artic = very interesting

The only buses I haven't rode were the New Flyer Vikings, MCI D4500CT (yet), the Orion 6.501 and the 2011 New Flyer C40LFs (yet).

There was an Orion 6 bus in service?

Yes, we did:

We only had ten of them, 6350-6359, all HEVs. They had a lot of issues and retired early. 6350 is a museum bus, however.

Oh I forgot about the DesignLine buses...yeah I rode them too. Good riddance to them, not only did they epically fail when it boiled down to testing, but the design was horrendous-looking as well.

I loved the O6s, I rode them on the M5. Full low floor with a window in the back that's only as tall as an RTS = an excellent design. Shame it didn't quite work, but I always looked for them when all the other buses were RTSes.

I remember the O6 as well. I got a ride on the M103 and it was one of the buses with the soft seats. Now that was comfort! Shame there's no musuem building to house all the buses. I'd like to walk thru the interior of the bus again....

The DesignLine Eco Save IV, oh the smiley faced bus! I've only seen it on the M42 and missed the bus, but that's the ony instance I've seen it. Oh well..

I only once rode a D60HF, and only rode a C40LF OG on the (G) shuttle bus.

Lets see......

GMC/TMC/Nova RTS

All Orions

Nova LFS/A

All New Flyers but the 2011 ones.

RTS CNG yeah

MCI Classic - maybe idk.... I used to live in Woodhaven where it was only served by private lines so its possible.

Short story, I have a vivid bus memory when I was around 8 with my mom. It was a local bus on Woodhaven Blvd so it had to be Green Lines on a GMC RTS that was beat to death. So we're going done the blvd on the service road when there is a fender bender accident in front of us. The 2 cars are blocking teh lanes and are refusing to move. The B/O, being a crazy mother f'er drives his bus with the passengers on it over the Median to the other lanes in the same direction. I swear I though we were gonna overturn but we didn't. We drive to the intersection and we pull back on the service road there, illegally. Needless to say, Everyone got the hell of that bus. I will never forget that day.
