ctrain Posted June 18, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2011 I was wondering (and there may not be an answer) why the NYC subway trains all seem to have a differently sounding door chime?
geoking66 Posted June 18, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2011 I was wondering (and there may not be an answer) why the NYC subway trains all seem to have a differently sounding door chime? I'm not sure why there are two variants (R44/46/64/68 and R142-), but to me it seems that the latter, which is slightly fainter and higher-pitched is more pleasant, is there for that reason. Personally, I hate the deep beeps on older trains; they always seem to resonate and give me a bit of a jolt.
