mark1447 Posted June 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2011 Rail service remains suspended along the busy Northeast Corridor between New York City and Philadelphia after a transformer fire in New Jersey. NJ Transit says there is no service between New York City and Trenton. The Northeast Corridor is the company's busiest line and runs more than 100 passenger trips daily. A spokeswoman said it's likely that suspension will continue throughout the morning. Commuters along that line should devise alternate routes. NJ Transit is restoring Midtown Direct and North Jersey Coast Line service into and out of Manhattan. Amtrak says the fire, which took place early Tuesday in New Brunswick, N.J., has idled about a dozen of its trains. Buses and PATH are honoring NJ Transit rail tickets.
