Novabus 5000 Posted June 25, 2011 Share #26 Posted June 25, 2011 For several years, beginning in 1994, MTA decided to experiment by bringing in buses with Alcoa rims instead of the usual five-pronged ones (don't know the name). It was a failed experiment, so they began to phase them out in 2000. A shame, because I loved it when the buses had those rims. The five-pronged ones were too samey for me. That said, wow, Trev. REALLY nice work! The BxM18 RTS made my jaw drop. Both in quality and the fact that the MTA put one there at one point.  Buses 9295-9300 were loaned to Yonkers for a short time. East New York Posted June 25, 2011 Share #27 Posted June 25, 2011 I was always in love with anything that had wheels and wings...... New Looks first and foremost, then a tie between Flxibles and RTS'. But my life would never be the same after this era began!
East New York Posted June 25, 2011 Share #28 Posted June 25, 2011 Now all we need is a pic of an O5 with Alcoas to complete my trip back to 1994!
Joel Up Front Posted June 25, 2011 Share #29 Posted June 25, 2011 A pity there's not much of LI from the '90s. I'd have loved to seen the diesel Orion Vs (with the old five-spoke rims) in service. I think starting with the '92 V CNG order, they started fitting Alcoas...
