Rell Posted June 24, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2011 Was waiting for an uptown train at 125th around 7:30 AM on Thu 6/23 and a garbage train had come through. It ended with R62A #2013 -- a car with the LED lights on it. Did they permanently take that one off the , because I thought it was still running? Grand Concourse Posted June 24, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 24, 2011 Since it is the summer and it's A division, most likely the crews using that R62A car for ac since an R32 or such pair won't fit. the R127/134 or the windowless cars don't have ac. Greenhornet Posted June 26, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2011 That was being used by track workers on all lines in and around grand central it also had the crane on it for picking up tracks.
mark1447 Posted June 26, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2011 During summer time, on the IRT, the redbirds are put away and the R62A joins the refuse train service with the R127/134. For the IND/BMT lines a few R32s are placed with the R33WF refuse train while others join in with the R127/134 only. R33WF/R127/R134s has no ACs. But the R127/134s are kept since they have closets and tables in them for the crews to chill in or whatever.
