INDman Posted June 24, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 24, 2011 The new fleet assignments call for 24 R46 cars to be on the , that means there will be 3 trains. In the PMs there should be 1 set of R46s on the road. This morning, there were two trains of R46s on the , but one was taken OOS in the late morning. Also, today may have been the last day to ride an R46 on the line.

engineerboy6561 Posted June 25, 2011 Share #16 Posted June 25, 2011 why run R46 on the ? isnt it banned because of the Chystie St Cut 75-foot cars aren't allowed in the cut, but the doesn't actually use the Chrystie St. Cut, the does. The has used R46s for at least a decade and a half before the R160s took over.
Grand Concourse Posted June 25, 2011 Share #17 Posted June 25, 2011 why run R46 on the ? isnt it banned because of the Chystie St Cut Huh? The only reason the had been all R160s is because most of the R46s were sent to the and the remianing ones were just enough for the and service. Now with the being R68s, there are extra R46s to be given back to the .

Actually the real reason the R46s were pulled off the was because of the line...which I found asinine in itself as R46s can fit through the cut but whether the T/O has a R46 or R160, if they make the wrong lineup they'd be in a lot of trouble. The R68s on the already have flat wheels because crews are taking very heavy brakes coming into stations, if an R68A ends up there, I would hate to see what happens.
