Grand Concourse Posted July 1, 2011 Share #26 Posted July 1, 2011 I understand you meant mostly express bus. I still think it makes no sense as CP is the only Queens CNG depot. If anything it should keep the routes it has now. Of course LGA will never revert back, I'm saying shutting it down in the first place was premature and short sighted. And had this idea of consolidating of the express buses at CP was done sooner, then CP may as well have had their CNG facility closed and have LGA remain open. Queens Surface Posted July 1, 2011 Share #27 Posted July 1, 2011 IMO If anything CP should be taking back all the Q100 routes once all the C40LFs arrive.
transit bx Posted July 1, 2011 Share #28 Posted July 1, 2011 IMO If anything CP should be taking back all the Q100 routes once all the C40LFs arrive. That will never happen B/c the dead head from LGA is munh shorter then CP, thats why most of LGA express lines went to CP B/c of the same reason the deadhead from CP is much shorter the LGA. CP will become mostly express line depot but still will have at the most 5 local lines, while LGA is going to become all local depot. And for the Q50 will all come to my depot sooner or later,we already have some if not half its in progress. Kanarsie Guy Posted July 1, 2011 Share #29 Posted July 1, 2011 They should have made it the Bx50 I think they knew it was bound for ECH with CP growning. As for closing LGA's CNG station I knew that was going to back fire the only fix would invole a depot that not MTA BUS CS.

The majority of the route is in the BX anyway, I always thought that that was the decision maker for what Borough prefix a interborough route gets... B62 M60 BX15 Q44 etc... Q43LTD Posted July 2, 2011 Share #31 Posted July 2, 2011 What's going on with CP? They lost half their local routes, they're gonna lose more routes, but at least they're getting new buses. I don't want SC's hybrids at LGA. What would really piss me off is if half the (Q60) goes to LGA
error46146 Posted July 2, 2011 Share #32 Posted July 2, 2011 LGA doesn't have a CNG station anymore because they blew it up a couple years ago. luckily no orion 5's were hurt in the accident, but a couple of GMC RTS's were torched lol
aemoreira81 Posted July 2, 2011 Share #33 Posted July 2, 2011 Maintenance-wise, it makes sense, as LGA becomes an all-local depot and College Point would only have 2 models of buses to maintain long-term - MCIs and C40LFs when the rest come in. But for deadheads, it will make a bad deadhead situation already worse. The best place for the QM12, QM24, and QM25 would be Grand Avenue - but alas, those are MTA Bus lines. This is why the next contract needs to fully merge all NYC bus operations.

What would really piss me off is if half the (Q60) goes to LGA They trying to turn CP into a MOSTLY express depot, thats because most of the express lines deadheads are short to grt too.vis versa with LGA.Same as with the Q50 the deadhead for ECH is about 3 to 5 min in co op.That why all of there q50 will soon be ECH at the end. The merge is coming soon,i really dont think its going to be in this contract but its coming. The problem is that sinority reasons,MTA BUS just put in system picks for the five depots thats TWU local100 (CP,ECH,BP,LGA,and yonkers) for once a year just how TA and OA have it about a year ago. So its in progress. And also MTA BUS is part of the command center in ENY,so we in MTA BUS is getting some progress with the merge.

You would be happy to have them as they have lower milage [2 bus routes using them-yes i know they were at Far Rock first] and still in better shape than the LGA ones which are likely runned to the ground/not cared as well. What LGA should do is split the Q53 with JFK or Far Rockaway. I don't think they need to take on anymore routes than they need to. LGA doesn't have a CNG station anymore because they blew it up a couple years ago. luckily no orion 5's were hurt in the accident, but a couple of GMC RTS's were torched lol They didn't 'blow it up', they were in the process of deconstructing the facilities and while doing so, the place blew up. they had to move those CNG buses out asap because they would've been additional bombs waiting to go off. someone said one was totally burnt, but the others had water damage from being soaked. I think some were fixed up or just sent to ECH.

Splitting the (Q53) may not happen yet since FR/JFK and LGA are under different unions. I have a feeling SC's hybrids may end up at JFK when SC gets their order
T J Trainman Posted July 3, 2011 Author Share #38 Posted July 3, 2011 Every one keeps forgetting about the 100s, Their time is coming to go. The only replacements as Ray mentioned will be more 1996 Novas to MTA Bus. SC junkers wont be enough to replace all 40 Ex Bees. SC has 29 O-7s. LGAA needs more RTS because when LGA gets the Q-66, The hybrids wont be able to handle the large crowding (and over crowding) of the Q-66.

Yeah sadly... it would be so nice if the unions could at least work together on stuff like that. From the start I always felt the q53 should've been more FR/JFK line than LGA since it runs parallel to a few other ex-GL routes.
