Myrtle-Willoughby Avenue question

At this station along the (G) (my first time riding the line) I noticed the Willoughby exit was boarded up and closed. Its surrounded by a fence but I was interested as to why was that exit closed though? I googled it but couldnt really find an answer.

Was it closed and boarded up before, or is this something new?

In the past, some exits & staircases were closed by the MTA because of safety reasons - either the exit wasn't repairable or that exit was a hotbed for crime.

That entrance was closed in the 80's due to high crime in the area (Marcy projects is right upstairs of the full-time side, and Tompkins projects is a bock west of the full-time exit)

That, and more people were using the Myrtle Av-end since the B54 is right upstairs
