I need slants

How many slant (R40) sets are left, and what line(s) are they running on? I tried the (B) this past thursday (may 29) and all i got were brightliners and other older type cars. The next time i'm going to NYC is the 25th or 26th of june, or maybe the week before on the 18th or 19th. Thanks for any help/info!

Brightliners don't run on the (B)...only R40Ms and R68s. There are a few slants left, and if you're lucky you should be able to catch one on the (B) if you wait. The only problem is it takes forever for a train to come so you'll be waiting for a while.

R32s do run on the Bravo but its very rare. Its happened quite a few times.

Slants on the (B) and thats about it. R40Ms on the (B) and thats about it.

Now, the (W) is questionable, but it is possible to watch a cycle in a short time.

Slants on the (N) is a very rare occasion. Last time I ran into an R40 (N) was early March this year.

There hasnt been a R32 on the (B)ravo since Last Winter, i should know i work the Line.

You see a R32 on the (B)ravo Coney Island Barn must be so behind with thier inspections they have no choice..

Then again i wouldnt mind operating one down Brighton.

This Past Thursday they had to run a Slant on the (N)ovember they needed a train(Kawasaki wanted to "check" a R160's for something) and Coney Island Yard gave em a Slant, needless to say the C/R's wasn't too happy... B):rolleyes:B)

Out of the 10 trains i caught 2 were brightliners and the other 8 were the kind with the orange & beige seats along the sides. The 2 i saw were extremely clean on the outside and very shiny. Too bad someone mussed up all the windows on the inside or i would have been able to get some out the back RFW action.

It depends on the day. Some days i see a lot of slants. And some days i don't but the slants are starting to become a rare sight. Some days there are more R68/As on the (B) than R40 slants!!!!!

I'm surprised you had difficulty finding a slant on the (B), cause I use Brighton almost every day and it seems to be that it is still majority slants, with an occasional R68.

Well thats funny becuase i ride the brighton line every day also. Because it seems like most days its mostly R40M and then like one day of the week there be a lot of slants on the line. And the R68s are not occasional on the (B) line anymore there are like five to six sets.

Looks like i got my work cut out for me. I am determined to catch a slant before they are gone.

You could always wait at 207st street. Eventually those POS will come squeaking, and screeching in, to be stripped then scrapped. You could get the true final trip pics...........

That is an idea. I'll have to see what my schedule turns out to be.

I'm also wondering if I will still be able to catch some Slants the week after next... 2 days of my stay in NYC are reserved for Slant-riding only! B) I guess I'll start looking for them right away in AM rush as there seem to be more trains needed in AM rush on the (B) than during the rest of the day...

Those brightliners you speak of, what do you mean R32s because R32s don't run on the (B) as often or rarely does, and its been a while since theres been an R32 on the (B). And when they do, its usually only set you find. I think what you mean is R40Ms which are these.

This is the "Brightliner".

And then the other train your talking about are these which are R68/As.

Oh i know. They were the corrugated steel beasties. There were several service changes that day that may have caused it. But i only saw 2 in a row the rest were the r40m and r68. Another theory is that they actually may have been (C) trains because i was at 72nd street where one side is (B) and the other side across de platform is (C). I couldn't tell which train they were because they were both pulling away when i looked up from talking to my girlfriend. As you know the tiny little letters at the top can be obstructed or not working properly so i may have been mistaken. I just know i saw 2 of them & they were loud. Do you think i should go to coney island to get photos? If i had known their phase-out was so soon i woulda jumped on this months ago.

72 Street is a 2 level station.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I'm willing to say downtown (B)s and ©s are across the platform from each other, as with the other level being uptown... perhaps...

Uptown trains are on the upper level, downtown trains on the lower level, 72nd is a Local only station so (B)ravos and ©harlies share track on both levels. Uptown doors open on the left, downtown doors open on the right. Uptown express tracks are next to uptown local tracks, but the (A)pple and (D)elta skip obviously. Downtonw express tracks are next to downtown local tracks, same skip.

ah hell it's just easier to draw...
