B25, BxM7A, Q37, QM2A Changes

BxM7A to BxM8

QM2A to QM20

B25 and Q37 travel path change

http://www.mta.info/mta/news/books/pdf/110725_1115_BUS.pdf

Quick reactions. Not a bad idea renaming the BXM7a to the BXM8 and the QM20 to replace the QM2a.

And unlike *cough Gateway Mall in Brooklyn Cough* the (MTA) smartly is starting extended (Q37) service as soon as the new casino starts this Fall.

And finally this is good news for those in Brooklyn Heights and further into DUMBO with this (B25) extension.

I always felt that a second full time 7-day a week route such as the (B45)

(B65) or even the (B67)(B69) should serve that area as well. IMO there too many buses that terminate at Tillary/Adams Street area.

What other routes would you extend to Gateway? The only route that I could think of is the B14. The B15 and B20 should stay where they are.

Maybe the (B14) lol. No seriously checkmate i was talking about how the (MTA) waited over a year before starting bus service to Gateway w./the (B13) and late the (Q8) and (B83).

Thus smartly this time as soon as this new casino opens the (Q37) will be there to go there.

- No comment on the route renaming changes...

- As for the Q37 routing changes, the moving of it towards (and in) the Aqueduct entrance area full time, I have mixed feelings about.... The removal off 116th st though, I do fully agree with...

- As for the B25 routing change.... *shrugs*

They're doing that b/c on the weekends (especially), the taxi's, the charter buses, and the double decker buses use old fulton st as a parking lot, or a place to idle along.... the routing change eliminates that u-turn which is made tougher w/ all those other vehicles impeding it.... this is what they don't/won't tell you.....

technically it's an extension, but it's not being done for the sake of coverage....

Huh? neither one of those 4 routes terminate around tillary/adams....

....but I do think the B67 should head up a couple blocks to DUMBO.... if the roads weren't in such crummy condition, and the streets weren't as narrow, it would be more feasible....

So bro(B35) if this casino does very well do you consider extending another nearby routes i.e a branch of the (Q11) etc.

Just answered my questions on this, but I don't see the point of giving City Island folks two runs each way. That's a joke. Give them additional express bus service!!

That Bx29 runs really often, so I'm assuming thats why the 7A/BxM8 only has two runs.

Not sure why Q101 titled it what he did, but someone might wanna merge this with:

Beat me to it....

I was just going to say, If it were up to me, I wouldn't give them any direct express service.... wasn't there a time where service on the Bx29 was 1/2 hour all day? now it's like, buses come every 15 mins on the rush.... Having riders take the 29 to the BxM7a is the only area/situation within the boroughs where I support/suggest that express bus riders xfer to the local...

And why is that??? They have no direct access to a subway, so why shouldn't they have more express bus service?? Aside from that having two runs a day is rather pointless. Either give them adequate express bus service or let a private provider come in and do the job.

So the BxM7A will become the BxM8. Still two rush-hour trips on the BxM8 to City Island.

Hmmm...can somebody please explain to me why they cut the BxM7B? I mean if this was because to get rid of the SUFFIX "A", then they could have just done this a while ago by combining both routes and calling it the BxM8. With the schedules of the BxM7A and BxM7B, that could have been done and there would have been no big deal during those budget cuts. UGH!

Then again, it "may not" be a SUFFIX "A" issue...hence Q15A, Q20A and Q20B. So who knows.

QM20? No comment!

B25...yeah. They finally figured out the new turn-a-round as oppose to the "DUMB" way in "DUMBO"!

Q37...make since on BOTH changes. Looks like the MTA is trying to make South Ozone Park more convient to travel to and from.

The Q11 has enough branches...

I actually think the 112 should've been sent over to Aqueduct - to terminate there...

Jamaica - Aqueduct service...

Why not the (Q41), which is closer to the soon to be opened casino than the (Q112)? It could run on Rockaway Blvd from 111 St to Rockaway Blvd Station.

Will (MTA) Plan to relable Q15A, Q20A, Q20B, N22A?

I don't see that happening in the near future

The main reason the MTA is renaming the BxM7A and the QM2A because they don't share much(in any) of travel path(minus express section) with their "original routes" in the outbound borough(same with the Q46, Q79, Q20, Q30, and nearly every ex-PBL route that was renamed after the (MTA) took over them.

I wouldn't really consider 15 minute service frequent, but the ride to connect to the (6) or BxM7A isn't that long.

There are a lot of areas without subway service that don't have express bus service. Look at Travis and a lot of areas on the South Shore. People manage to find their way to another express route.

But the thing is that the Q15A is pretty similar to the Q15, and the Q20A and Q20B follow the same path for most of the route (the only difference is that they take different routes in College Point).

Either them would work. Point is there should a bus connection at Rockaway Blvd for both branches of the (A) line. Right now the (Q37)only connects with the less frequent Lefferts (A) line. Not to mention most important a direct bus between the new casino and Dowtown Jamaica.

This seems to be another popular topic. East NY also created a thread on this.;)

That's a terrible example for trying to make your point... lol Travis has the X11, even if it runs just during the rush hour. ;)

DUDE THEY DO NOT NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's called use bx29 then switch to BXM7 done. The BX29 is that short it's not that serious. It's not like they have to use the local bus forever the ridership DOESN'T WARRANT IT!!!!!!! It's the same reason why NJT canceled express lines to newark decades ago other options exist. The BXM7B is useless and unnecessary those 2 runs aren't needed If it were me that line will be GONE completely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and other redundant lines.

The B103. While the route would be fairly long, extending at least some trips would make it more accessible, and have the added bonus of serving Starrett City.

Seeing the thread title, I thought the B25 change would be a service cut. Guess the MTA wouldn't put that outright in their report, would they?

@Q101 E Midtown

Maybe the MTA will send the Q41/Q112 there in the future? The Q37 I'm thinking is the test of how service goes. Kinda like how as, Shortline Bus stated, the B83 and Q8 were latecomers to Gateway Mall.

DUDE the BXM7 and 7B are not even close to the X11 and x10!!!!!!!!! The X10 is extremely crowded it can't handle the X11 ppl the X10 and BXM7 are not even close in terms of ridership hence why X11 runs while BXM7B = USELESS!!!!!!! SI has NO alternatives. Bronx does!!!!!!!!!!! the S92 is too full to take over for X11. Plus the X22/19 have a stop at victory blvd

The BXM7B doesn't exist anymore, so I don't know why you're bringing it up for.

Second, if you read my post, I also stated that I see no point in having two runs each way. Either give them more express bus service or let a private provider give them express bus service.

Boy are you off base. The BXM7 is certainly a necessity for folks in Co-op City, hence why it is well used. You really don't know what youre talking about. And again the BXM7B does NOT exist anymore. ;)

Good point (for some reason, I thought you were talking about off-peak).

During rush hours, I guess you could add a few more buses. Say, service every 20-30 minutes from 6:30 to 8:30.

The express trips there need to get axed!!!!!!!!! seriously the BXM7 is faster than the BXM7A so using BX29 to BXM7 if timed is faster than BXM7a city island trips which really aren't nessesary

Even so, those folks use the X17 or X10 during the off peak which leaves them by Victory & Richmond. They can drive or walk from there or whatever.
