R188 7857 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #7 Posted July 29, 2011 Santiago = prision for life, people are so dumb these days Bus driver = lucky, he survived a massive crash that could have killed many of people. Luckily, there were no pedestrians or passengers. I wonder why they said N-43 bus if the dest. sign said NOT IN SERVICE. Anyways, that bus is definatly totaled. And people want red light cameras removed.....
7LineFan Posted July 29, 2011 Share #8 Posted July 29, 2011 This probably won't happen in a million years, but they should bill him for the cost of the bus, even if it is covered by insurance. It would teach a few people a thing or two.
m7zanr160s Posted July 29, 2011 Share #9 Posted July 29, 2011 I don't want to do anything that would cause me to do something that crazy. It looks like that guy was doing about 50. Also, tough bus; looking at it, you'd think something like that would go straight through.
Pablo M 201 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #10 Posted July 29, 2011 Wow, that is crazy. I was speechless watching the video.
aemoreira81 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #11 Posted July 29, 2011 You could see the bus buckling right there. It's a goner. As for that van, he must have been doing at least 60-65 mph. I wouldn't be surprised if he were an illegal.
Quill Depot Posted July 29, 2011 Share #12 Posted July 29, 2011 Youch! That dude really needs to learn how to drive.
R188 7857 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #13 Posted July 29, 2011 After watching the video two times, I noticed that after he hit the bus, the bus bounced, it went airborn. First, one wheel flew up and it hit the road bouncing the other wheel up. Very massive.
4P3607 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #14 Posted July 29, 2011 Video is f*cked up, it won't play after 0:52 . But damn a brand new bus... totaled!!
Amtrak7 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #15 Posted July 29, 2011 Jesus what an idiot. God knows if there had been passengers on that bus... Honestly I've always thought that when you drive drunk and cause such a huge accident, you should just have your license permanently revoked. Not for a small DUI, but for this type of potentially deadly accident: definitely. He didn't have a license and will probably never be able to get one. Gorgor Posted July 29, 2011 Share #16 Posted July 29, 2011 How the hell was the driver of the van not killed in that? Just watching that video it looks like the impact would've killed him instantly.
DevilBus65 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #17 Posted July 29, 2011 Wow that was ******* crazy. I was up in the BCC when we got the call to get everybody and their ******* mother to that scene. Luckily, there were no pedestrians or passengers. I wonder why they said N-43 bus if the dest. sign said NOT IN SERVICE. Anyways, that bus is definatly totaled. And people want red light cameras removed..... Hilarious, I know. Hound (who has an account here as well and has been a bus operator for LIB for years) said it was deadheading down to Freeport for the next run to Jamaica Center on the N4... and yes, buses do use Uniondale Avenue to deadhead. I've seen it all the time.
Luis1985 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #19 Posted July 29, 2011 He didn't have a license and will probably never be able to get one. HELL NO! after what he caused? his ass should be in jail for life man. imagine if there wouldve been passengers on that bus? they wouldve never survive a crash like that. smh. my goodness, thank god the bus was out of service and the driver is ok. im so happy no passengers were on board. the next worst thing wouldve been for the bus to flip over and explode. then the driver wouldve been really screwed. smh. thats a big No No. that van driver should really be in jail for life. that stupid santiago drunk dude, he's so going to hell and will pay for this incident big time. (stupid idiot.) ima tell ya straight up, god dont like ugly. (not trying to be religious here.) but his punishment is not going to be good after this incident. Nova RTS 9147 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #22 Posted July 29, 2011 How the hell was the driver of the van not killed in that? Just watching that video it looks like the impact would've killed him instantly. The grace of god and a whole lot of luck. He didn't have a license and will probably never be able to get one. He was also drunk, which makes the situation that much more senseless.
MacAlert Posted July 29, 2011 Share #23 Posted July 29, 2011 It looks like the guy also clipped another car in the intersection. For him to be able to life the bus off its wheels, he had to have been doing over 60. That's just crazy!
aemoreira81 Posted July 29, 2011 Share #24 Posted July 29, 2011 I wonder if any bets should be made as to whether or not this guy was even in legal status in the USA, in addition to DWI. Face it, if that was a vehicle smaller than a bus, everyone inside is probably killed and he's looking at second-degree murder.
