SirJokaPlaya Posted April 9, 2012 Share #202 Posted April 9, 2012 Prob 119 only academy route that uses rts nabis to ny Not being funny but I was thinking either Hilton, Greenville, or Fairview got more NABI's, so I don't like assuming that Academy got it but thanks. NorEasterNick Posted April 13, 2012 Share #205 Posted April 13, 2012 Are these NABIs ever going to see a home in Egg Harbor Twp? I'd love to see them on my home line 501 and all of the other locals... brings back memories of the Flxibles.. they have that similar "square" look to them... IMO they're much nicer looking than the RTSs
553 Bridgeton Posted April 13, 2012 Share #206 Posted April 13, 2012 Yes they will. Sadly these shitty NABI31s will see life on the 501...

FmrCUSAOp Posted April 14, 2012 Share #209 Posted April 14, 2012 Was told by Jarob1020 that CoachUSA Paramus (Community Coach) will start getting NABI's later on this year, replacing their aging Nova B fleet. Too bad they got rid of their Metro D's because I wanted to drive one of those BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stand by for that. Also, if possible, any new bus reports (NABI or Designline - whenever they come) , if possible please report here as well so I can keep the roster updated? Thanks! When Community got the Bergen lines and those Metro D's, that's all I wanted to drive for months. In my opinion, maintenance at Community didn't really try to keep up with them. It became hell driving one up Fort Lee Road while doing the 756 or 755.
MHV9218 Posted April 15, 2012 Share #210 Posted April 15, 2012 No update here, but just a comment since there's no real thread on the NABIs. Just rode my first NABI yesterday, bus 5555. I still remember the whole NJT fleet being Metro Ds and RTSes, so you can imagine my surprise looking at the roster and seeing how grim it's become. Coming from NYCT O7s though, the NABI's ride was incredible and the bus looked great, interior felt a little cramped though. Great to see a big operator like NJT going the high floor route unlike the MTA, though that may end soon. I gotta say though, the transmission in that bus was godawful. I knew from the minute it took off it had to be a ZF tranny, and I was right. Downshifts were terrible, upshifts took ages: felt like an NYCT 1200-series LFSA (imo using the worst transmission in any modern bus), and that's cause it's the same tranny. Mercifully the newer NYCT LFSAs have Ecolifes which make a huge difference, and I see the 5600s and up have those as well -- does it make a difference? Cause for me the tranny on that bus completely spoiled what was otherwise a very good bus.

Yeah, it's kinda grim in Trenton since they have one model of the NABIs, if you ride the RiverLINE to Camden you may see some "variety" of NABIs with the various number series and the suburbans with two groups of engines [CAT and Cummins]. Here is the list of our "Varied" NABIs; 5201 - First production NABI [CAT C-9] 5230 - supposed to be down here but haven't been seen since last year 5323-45 - CAT C-13 Suburbans 5346-74 - Cummins Suburbans 5567-90 - Transits 5639-40 - Transits from Ironbound [5640 has Kean University wrap] 5797-98 - Transits from Hilton [First with the black front doors] 5907-18 and 5924-35 - New [2011] transits with vynil seats and black front doors 6001-08 - same as the 5900s but these are the first of the 6000 series. Both the 5900s and 6000s have a slightly different engine/tranny combo [i think]. And that's our "variety" in Camden.

They switched over from the ZF ecomat transmission to the ecolife around the 5900-6000 series buses, thats about the only powertrain change that i'm aware of. All new buses are cummins powered. SirJokaPlaya Posted September 3, 2012 Share #214 Posted September 3, 2012 All I wonder is if the buses are as fast as the CAT C-9 buses since drivers that have the Cummins say the bus are snails compared to the CAT C-9's.

Having been on the transit NABIs and suburbans as well the engine is a difference. Ride the suburbans from Greenville, Meadowlands, Orange (gobus) and Hilton and you can tell the how the bus runs. The ones in Hilton sound sluggish right off the bat taking off and are slower than the RTS fleet. However the rest of the suburbans sounds much better, are faster and sound similar to the Neoplans

553 Bridgeton Posted December 10, 2012 Share #220 Posted December 10, 2012 I said in a post(forget which thread) that i feel njt is trying to make the 553 exact fare. And yes that nabi was standing room only!
mfs NJT459 Posted December 10, 2012 Share #221 Posted December 10, 2012 Sir Joka said in the Clever Devices thread that they didn't have "MCI only" routes programmed when he was working, but now that has changed because of MCIs receiving Clever Devices, so the same trip programs for the 553 is at no surprise found on NABIs
