maxamillion Posted August 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2011 Since DCAS and MTA separated how do you apply for transit jobs now. I've been trying to figure out a way to apply for the bus operator and traffic checker positions but to no avail. August 3rd is the filing date for both...thanks in advance. Locomotion69 Posted August 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2011 You have to register first, on the top right hand side click here to register. https://exam.nyct.com/psc/cgwprod_ex/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_CE.GBL?&PAGE=HRS_CE_HM_PRE&NY_CGW_Type=E& $61.00 non refundable application fee. There is no "test" per se. They will assign you a random list number. Applicants will be notified of their list number by mail within 8 weeks of the application deadline and will be canvassed in order of their random list number to participate in the Bus Operator Selection Survey process. There is no education or work experience requirements by the way. You don't have to be a NYC resident to apply. How much was the fee for the last MTA Bus or Mabstoa exam? Safe bet that the next NYCTA B/O exam for next year will raise it's fee(it was $40.00 for the 2008 exam).

The last MTA Bus exam was on 2007, so it's that time again. maxamillion: With DCAS some exams waived the fee if you could prove that you are unemployed, but this is the MTA now, I didn't read anything about it on the NOE. Best to call them and make sure.
mass production Posted August 4, 2011 Share #11 Posted August 4, 2011 Still on the list for exam 8006 for B/O, and 8094 for Conductor. I'm going to look into sending the 61.00 fee sometime this month. Had my CDL license for 3years, and no luck as of yet as far as job hunting is conceren. I also have an interview on August 12th for the Casino that's opening up at Aqueduct Racetrack real soon, and I'm looking into taking some Bartending courses real soon. Trying to make some extra money since I'm not happy where I'm at...

Locomotion69 Posted August 4, 2011 Share #13 Posted August 4, 2011 Hey LOCO what date is the exam? There is no exam, you receive a ticket(aka list number) to the dance. Similar to the Mabstoa exams. The server was down late last night. I expect a lot of applicants for this exam.

Locomotion69 Posted August 4, 2011 Share #15 Posted August 4, 2011 You mean they give you a ticket for a date and time as far as when to take the exam? WHY? That one went right over your head, it's cool though. From what I read on the notice of examination, they will mail you a list number but in random order, it's not like the first one to file gets the lowest number. There is no exam, you are basically paying $61.00 for a list number. If I remember correctly one of the mabstoa exams was that you had to cut out a coupon in the newspaper and mail it in along with the application fee. This is way different than the exam that I took for NYCT a few years back. I'll send the money ASAP.

Locomotion69 Posted August 5, 2011 Share #20 Posted August 5, 2011 I looked it up before and the last MTA Bus exam was in 2007. MTA Bus is separate from TA and mabstoa, and the 8006 exam was back in 2008, but that is neither here or there, good luck to all.
Locomotion69 Posted August 5, 2011 Share #21 Posted August 5, 2011 Do you know if the filling fee can be waved if your unemployed? After you login, click the exam title and look at the bottom of the page (how to apply). Applying by mail:To request an Application Fee Waver you must submit your Application by mail. Applications are not accepted in person. I hope that helps, but that is all that I could find.

Locomotion69 Posted August 8, 2011 Share #23 Posted August 8, 2011 hey guys i would like to know how difficult is the exam or if there r any materials to study for it thanks I really wish they(MTA) would use different terminology. There is no exam. There is nothing to study for. You pay the "fee" which is non refundable and you will get a list # in the mail in a few weeks. As to when they will "establish" the 2301 list beats me. Probation used to be 3 months for MTA Bus, now it's 1 year. All correspondence including the submission of your application must be sent to the address below: MTA NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT c/o MTA Bus Company Bus Operator, Exam No. 2301 P.O. Mizzkittie17 Posted August 8, 2011 Share #24 Posted August 8, 2011 Do you know if the filling fee can be waved if your unemployed? You can get the fee waived but you need to show proof that you're receiving unemployment benefit. If you send in your application with a copy of your unemployment payment statment -- the document that show your payment history -- you can get the fee waived. https://a856-eeexams.nyc.gov/OLEE/oasys/FAQFeeWaiver.aspx I also found this: "Can I have the filing fee waived? The NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services allows fee waivers for the following conditions: An individual who is a New York City resident and is receiving full benefits (Cash, Medicaid, and Food Stamps) and not partial benefits for Public/Cash Assistance from the New York City Department of Social Services. An individual who is unemployed and is receiving Unemployment Insurance Benefits. An individual who is receiving Supplementary Security Income (SSI) payments. An individual who is receiving Medicaid benefits or partial benefits that include Medicaid. An individual who is receiving Public Assistance in the form of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families(TANF)/Family Assistance or Safety Net Assistance benefits. A participant certified eligible for a Job Training Partnership Act / Workforce Investment Act program through a state or local social service agency. Carefully follow the instructions in the application in order to request the fee waiver. For MaBSTOA examinations only individuals who are New York City residents and are receiving full benefits (Cash, Medicaid, and Food Stamps) and not partial benefits for Public/Cash Assistance from the New York City Department of Social Services can request a fee waiver." http://www.mta.info/nyct/hr/faqs.htm hope this helps!
