Have the 2011s fared better?

Much better, but at the same time, they got their upgrades.

Yes and no.

It's not about maintenance, it's long term quality, and they have deteriorated over time.

I'm not gonna lie, coming from someone who rides them all the time...they are getting worst. That Yukon batch specifically omg the suspension on some of those buses are GONE. And I feel with all the strain the express redesign did with adding full standees on almost every bus (SIM1), they are getting driven to death and I don't think Prevost cared about long term specifically for the MTA. Hopefully this next batch, although cheaper, can focus on long term quality. When those buses first came they were amazing, besides the low seats.

The lack of suspension stability is a reason as to why I opt for the SIR/Ferry instead of the express bus nowadays.....the last few rides on the SIM1C I've had were horrible, not even recording worthy.

But, the 2700s at Charleston? They are miles better.....

At this point, I'm just wondering what the fleet numbers will be. The grand total of new Prevost could be 257+50+23=330.

The delivery schedule so far is:

MTA Bus (for 257 buses)                                    30          November 2020–December 2020
NYCT (for 50 buses + 23 option buses)            30          January 2021–February 2021
MTA Bus (for 257 buses)                                  227         February 2021–February 2022
NYCT (for 50 buses + 23 option buses)            20         February 2022–March 2022
NYCT (for 50 buses + 23 option buses)            23         March 2022 – April 2022 (SIM23+SIM24)

There could be different scenarios in how the numbers are done:

If you start at 2790, then the fleet will end at 3119......

- Suppose MTA Bus gets alloted the first 257 (2790-3046) numbers on that range. The first 30 MTA Bus (2790-2819) would knock out the remaining Detroit green-sign D4500s.The next 180 MTA Bus (2820-2999) would knock out at least 3000-3150, By the time the last 47 MTA Bus (3000-3046) come in, there would be no conflict. BUT if it happens like that, then the first 30 NYCT (3047-3076) would have had conflicted already (because the pilot was there in 2020 and rest in 2021). Maybe some renumbering of the older ones could happen.

- It could be MTA Bus (2790-2819), then NYCT (2820-2849), MTA Bus (2850-3076), NYCT+option (3077-3119). 2850-2999 would have freed up least 3000-3125 by late 2021, so conflict avoided.

- NYCT (2790-2839), MTA Bus (2840-3096), with MTA having time to decide NYCT option (3097-3119). 2840-2869 replace MTA Bus Detroits and 2870-2999 replace the first 130 D4500CLs, freeing up the 3000s.

.......Or they get a new block, along the lines of 1800-2129 to keep express buses as close as possible. Who knows, maybe a surprise 9000 series.

It appears that 4950 is back in the midwest. Last location was at Harris, Minnesota as of yesterday. I wonder what's going on.....

Rejected?

Maybe they returned it to sender because of defects NYCT discovered?

Forgive me if this question is foolish, but why are some buses that are made in 2019 are considered 2020 units?

Automobile manufacturers do the same thing.

The  9000 series (9510 and up) will be used for the next batch of hybrids.

Kinda bummed Prevost won that express bus order, was hoping for MCIs. In a perfect world the 50 for NYCT would be that redesigned new MCI and the MTA Bus units would be CT's similar to the ones NJT are getting, but with MTA specs.

I will admit those Prevosts are gonna look fly in the Cuomo scheme with the headlight redesign. Can't wait until SC gets these so I see them on the BM2, that is if they even IS a BM2 by the time this order starts with the way these route redesigns are going.

4950 is in Manhattan, looks like it's heading to Quill at this very moment. 6126 is at the vendor.

Doesn't seem like SC will be getting these. They'll likely get some 3400s.

Why shouldn’t they? It would make a pretty good addition to their fleet. After all, the numbers add up according to my spreadsheet (still needs revision):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_B8Hu1hRaZ4hjToejxvy-FDPlBGSxEn3k_sW1-Vfc64

You see, in the spreadsheet, the math adds up.

RFP states that the buses are for Queens, Yonkers and The Bronx.

So does this mean that my spreadsheet may be inaccurate and must be somewhat modified?

Perhaps it says you should just stop making them entirely. 😏

Why shouldn’t I. They are not predictions. They are educated guesses.

The other alternative I proposed for these spreadsheets was to do them on Excel, but the logistics of having to share it via OneDrive just makes it time consuming.

And if you look at it, it looks pretty nice.

Way to contradict yourself. (I'd hardly consider them educated, anyway, but that's something I'd rather not get into here.)

I don't care if it's lined with roses and smells like fresh apple pie. It's hardly useful -- especially since shit tends to happen quite differently from what you predict. This is exactly why people repeatedly say to wait and see.

There's a particular reason as to why I always say to wait and see, because things change in a heartbeat....never assume some place is getting so-and-so until the facts are out there.

Which is why I'm not a fan of predictions, guesses and such.

I didn't check out your spreadsheet so I don't know what you have in there.

You should check it out. I do have a very generous fleet expansion for the transit-starved borough of Queens.

I wouldn’t call it a contradiction, as predictions and educated guess are two totally separate things.

Well I was intending to have the sheet updated to reflect the facts, but I never had the time to do so. I (much like the rest of us) have a life to live, so I’m very busy to change the sheet. I am planning to do so over the weekend.

Technically if Spring Creek got them that would still be correct since SC is a Queens Division depot.

While that is true, Yonkers is a Bronx Division depot and they just mentioned Yonkers outright anyway. The RFP doesn't mention divisions, and half of the time, they don't mention it.

We'll have to sit back and watch on this one.

Not yet.

So Prevost lowballed the order by 13 million....which might not sound like a lot, but when it comes down to quality assurance, that's a bit worrysome, especially with how bad the 2500-2700 batch has deteriorated in a short amount of time.

Prevost is owned by Volvo of Sweden...but even without that to consider, Plattsburgh is a hell of a lot closer than Pembina.

Not sure what them being owned by Volvo Group(which everyone knows at this point) has to do with anything.

That's not a hybrid, and according to @Cait Sith, it's been registered to Quill.

It's at Quill, it's one of 15 all-electric artics they are getting for the M14 SBS.

My assumption is that whatever XD60s they will possibly boot out will end up heading on over to your neck of the woods.
