I was curious to know why FB that uses artic buses for the Sbs44 dont get some of the xd60 orders? I can see the 44 using the new flyers style instead of the Novas......

As far as the preliminary fleet plans go, they are supposed to get XD60's. However it remains to be finalized, and the talk was having 4700's shipped to Brooklyn, but that may not happen now. A lot depends on the plans for the option buses and the EIS of the new Nova artic's that are already supposed to be here.

No one says anything about the M15 getting new stuff :(. Oh and to the guy that made the emojii's of bus routes you left out Q, M, and S routes.

Demonstrating the combined economic, environmental and performance benefits of deploying a zero-emission, all-electric bus service to support New York City’s climate and transportation goals
 
Burlingame, Calif. – September 12, 2017 – Today Proterra®, the leading innovator in heavy-duty electric transportation, announced that New York MTA, which operates the largest bus fleet in the U.S., has leased five Proterra Catalyst® E2 buses that are outfitted with WiFi and USB charging ports. As part of MTA’s fleet, Proterra’s Catalyst E2 buses will go into service this December and initially serve routes B39 and B32 in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. The lease program aims to evaluate the combined economic, environmental and performance benefits of deploying an all-electric bus fleet. Over the three-year lease, Proterra expects MTA to reduce 2,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and save approximately $560,0001 on maintenance and operating costs.
 
Each weekday, MTA serves on average 2.4 million riders with over 5,700 buses circulating New York City streets. MTA transit operations have already successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 17 million metric tons each year. However, this program represents MTA’s continued commitment to decarbonizing its transportation systems to meet New York City’s goal of reducing emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
 
The lease program will provide the MTA with actionable data on what works best in New York’s metropolitan environment, and will help inform future electric bus procurements. Having endured in extreme weather conditions across the U.S., including the 2014 polar vortex, the Proterra Catalyst E2 buses are well equipped for the seasonal wear and tear in New York.
 
This zero-emission bus program also supports New York State’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV), which aims to integrate more electric vehicles seamlessly into the electricity grid. By pushing more intelligence into the grid, the program will also help inform electricity rate design for battery electric transit buses as well as what’s needed to manage an electric bus fleet at scale using demand charge management software and pricing signals.

Ewww who's idea was it with that design look. Hands down I think the best looking buses out there at the moment is the New flyers XD's. The Proterra looks like an new make over of the RTS's and a remodel of the fish bowl buses.

I like the Electric decals (and the paint scheme of course) but damn, that Proterra is butt ugly.

Exactly....like come on you have competition out there at least make the bus look totally amazing with all that features capacity. The Novas LFS at least beats it looks at the moment since i think they are also ugly

I'm looking forward to these new buses, I hope the B32 fleet will be entirety made up of these buses so one don't have to go on a goose chase to find them. B39... meh. I hope with the new scheme the TA will still find a way to put "Clean Air Hybrid Electric Bus" decals on them, always thought that was cool about our Hybrids.

These are straight Electric. No fuel whatsoever.

I've seen these before. Philadelphia's SEPTA is getting 25 for Southern District this coming winter. And that is including the incoming 525 NF XDE40s that 20 of the 90 that's ordered this year has arrived, with 100 each in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 35 in 2022.

We're only getting 5 buses. The 32 uses 4 buses for the entire line and the 39 uses 1.
