bknightshadow45 Posted August 8, 2011 #1 Posted August 8, 2011 While I was riding a downtown bound train this afternoon, my train ran on the 6th Avenue line between 59th Street and Jay Street-Metrotech. Just wondering what was the reason of the reroute. I also spotted an train terminate at Lower East Side-2nd Avenue. This happen around 3pm.
4P3607 Posted August 8, 2011 #2 Posted August 8, 2011 It sounds like there was a 12-9 or something else along the 8 Avenue line. The reason that the train did not switch over at W 4 st back to 8 Av was due to construction.

Gorgor Posted August 8, 2011 #8 Posted August 8, 2011 1444 out of 207 12-9 between 14st and W4. What do you mean "between?" Someone was hit IN the tunnel?
TwoTimer Posted August 8, 2011 #9 Posted August 8, 2011 http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/08/07/2011-08-07_man_dies_after_being_hit_by_train_in_greenwich_village_subway_station.html As stated, in the tunnel, but closer to W4 than 14th.
R68 Subway Car Posted August 8, 2011 #10 Posted August 8, 2011 It was a 12-9. I found out on subchat.
Roadcruiser1 Posted August 8, 2011 #11 Posted August 8, 2011 Another stupid suicide? WTF is wrong with people these days? They are f**king messed up in their head or something.
PsychoDasAnanda Posted August 9, 2011 #12 Posted August 9, 2011 I was on that train. It pulled out of the station about 3:15 and had just reached full speed when I heard a swoosh then a thud against the car. The train then came to a rapid stop. I knew we hit someone. The conductor was excellent at not revealing what had happened. I will say that "congestion ahead" is completely unbelievable though. Particularly when first responders with flashlights are passing by the windows. When we were allowed to evacuate everyone did so in an orderly manner. I know because I held the door between the car I was in open for others to pass through to the next car. It is commendable that with the exception of three individuals no passenger complained or panicked. We boarded the train that came to take us back to the station, it backed into the 14th Street Station and I was on street level at 4:21. Coincidentally, I was on the platform on June 2 directly across from the woman that got hit at the 77th and Lex Station. That was much more chaotic.
Grand Concourse Posted August 9, 2011 #13 Posted August 9, 2011 You are trying to ask something rational about people who did something irrational. I think at this point they should just ban people from the system... makes things so much easier....
