nycsubwayfan Posted August 9, 2011 #1 Posted August 9, 2011 Hello all. I was curious to know if anyone new about how NYC subway trains are identified in the system by dispatchers, supervisors, etc. Do they have a train number (or something like a train number)? Anyone know? Thanks!
MattTrain Posted August 9, 2011 #3 Posted August 9, 2011 They have call letters. Call letters if I can recall correctly are listed in the following: Starting point, route, time when the train left the starting point, and ending point.

SubwayGuy Posted August 9, 2011 #5 Posted August 9, 2011 Call letters if I can recall correctly are listed in the following: Starting point, route, time when the train left the starting point, and ending point. Full call letters: Terminal Departure Time (Interval), Route, Origin, Destination In practice it is often shortened to Interval, Route, Current Location
