There is no (;) train service in both directions from the Bedford Park Boulevard Station to the Brighton Beach Station.

There is no (D) train service in both directions from the 145th Street Station to the 167th Street Station.

In addition, due to a train with mechanical problems at the 42nd Street-Bryant Park Station:

Downtown (F) trains are running on the express track between the 42nd Street-Bryant Park Station and the West 4th Street-Washington Square Station.

I'm curious as to why (;) trains are suspended whenever there are incidents. There were lots of service disruptions today and most lines were rerouted. Why are (B)s not rerouted and where do they put the entire rolling stock when service is suspended?

Yeah, it's almost as if they don't want to run any (:) trains...

There are not many suitable places to terminate it.Probobaly the (D) is using the track that it usually terminates at.And it's just a supplement to other routes really.Trust me its not like the (V).That they would suspend even with a simple signal problem sometimes.

Could someone explain why there were no (F) trains between Stillwell and Kings Hwy?

They were running via Sea beach/(N) then to the (D) and back to regular at Bway Lafayette

The (B) is a secondary line, similar to the (V) and (W), which means since it duplicates other lines, it can be suspended without affecting overall service. The (MTA) doesn't just suspend lines to piss people off; it's done so they can run as many trains as possible without causing a bottleneck.

UPDATE 17:57:

Water Main Break:

  • downtown (A) trains via local between 168 St & 59 St-Columbus Circle

  • downtown (B) trains via express between 170 St & 59 St-Columbus Circle

  • uptown (D) trains via local between 145 St & Bedford Park Blvd

Now...

Due to a smoke condition at the West 8th Street-NY Aquarium Station:

Uptown (F) trains are running on the (D) line from the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station to the West 4th Street-Washington Square Station.

Uptown (Q) trains are running on the (N) line from the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station to the Dekalb Avenue Station."

Even more! I'm imagining R46 (F)'s on the West End and 4th Avenue Line.

And I saw a R68 (;) train on the middle track and an R160 (N) train on the southbound track at Whitehall Street! The (:)was in service because the lights were on and the doors were open.

It wasn't a train with mechanical problems at 42 St...

It was a broken rail. There was a JY R160 sitting on the local track at 42 St-Bryant Pk / 6 Avenue (it was an (F)), the lights were off and the last door was open. There were some Transit personnel there trying to investigate what was going on.

btw, I kept catching (M)'s via 6 Avenue. I would have gotten a shot of an R42 (A) and R160 (M) coming into W 4 St at the same time but my camera decided to freeze .

EDIT: There was also a major delay in (A) train service; I kept seeing (A) trains run local their whole route. To add onto that, there was no SB train at N Conduit Av on the (A) for 45 Minutes.

Saw the R46 already but it was earlier when they had to send some (F)s via the (N) then to the (D)

That's what I was asking about but i don't think it was smoke earlier.

"This is a Manhattan bound (F) train via the (D) line, the next stop is Bay 50th St"
