Novabus 5000 669 Posted June 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2008 I know this probably a stupid question but what is diffrance between the signs on the TMC rts buses and the NOVA bus Rts buses? P.S. Not to off topic but this is rlated to what happened to mci 1998 - check out my website - http://library.thinkquest.org/07aug/02164/
'89 Liberty MCI 2 Posted June 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2008 TMCs have one-line signs in front with larger text. Novas have 2-line signs in front with smaller text. 1996-1997 Novas have a higher resolution (more flipdots per inch) than TMCs. Side and rear signs are the same, but on the 4xxx TMCs (street exhaust buses from the 1980s which behave more like GMCs), the rear sign has the same resolution as the front on all TMCs, so the numbers would show up more threadlike as opposed to the more solid rear route sign numbers found on Novas, Orion Vs, and Artics 1000-1069 (1996-1997 series). 6xxx O5s, C40LFs, O7s with green signs, 1998-2000 Novas (49xx-52xx, and late 9xxx), and Artics 1070-1109, 5250-56xx (1998-2003 series) also have the fat route numbers in back but are an even higher resolution than what you see on 1996-1997 Novas. 1996-1997 series are flipdot only. 6xxx O5s, C40LFs, green O7s, 1998-2000, 1070-1109, 5250-56xx have combination LED-flipdot. The signs on the 1994 TMC's are different than the ones on all the older RTS buses. Here are two photos comparing these buses. 1990-93 TMC RTS 1994 TMC RTS
