I find it funny that joke Bachmann made a couple days ago about Irene being a message from God when in fact God has absolutely nothing to do with Irene regardless of whether that was a joke or not.

You may find it funny, but in my opinion it's quite sad. Sad for the fact that she's using relatively common occurrences as a pitch to get a few votes and for the fact that people will actually believe crap like that.

 

EDIT: I just read that it was meant to be a joke. I ain't buying it because, just like her Alaskan "clone", whenever someone calls them on something they said, they always claim their statement was to be taken in an entirely different way.

Will the Irene name be retired as a hurricane? Well the chances are very good as the weathercasters and other 'experts' who create these names will soon make that decision.

FYI. Since 2001, here the previous monster hurricane names that been retired and if it existed would no doubt be in the infamous Atlantic Ocean's Hall of Fame.

 

Recently retired hurricane names include Charley (2004), Dennis (2005), Dean (2007), Fabian (2003), Frances (2004), Felix (2007), Gustav (2008), Iris (2001), Isidore (2002), Isabel (2003), Ivan (2004), Ike (2008), Igor (2010), Juan (2003), Jeanne (2004), Katrina (2005), Lili (2002), Michelle (2001), Noel (2007), Paloma (2008), Rita (2005), Stan (2005), Tomas (2010) and Wilma (2005).
