mfs NJT459 Posted August 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2011 Due to the approaching hurricane, Governor Chris Christie put us under a State of Emergency. And he is considering evacuating the Jersey Shore. How will this affect all the NJ Transit bus and rail routes that serve the Jersey Shore? Pablo M 201 Posted August 25, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2011 They'll keep running up until the storm is here. Bus service to shore points might get suspended when the storm is here if it's bad enough. Trains might still run if the storm is not as strong as it is being predicted right now. (anything can happen in the next three days). He issued the state of emergency as a precautionary measure for today's storms because they expect heavy floods in the Passaic, Essex, and Hudson areas. So it's goes hand and hand with Irene.

Now if they dont do anything at all and bank on the fact the storm blows away and then it doesnt and a Katrina situation happens then you going to say they should have did something. Its best to do something now and if not then everyone is going to be yapping at the government as to why they didnt warn anyone. People like you should be banned but yet idiots like you are still on this forum acting like a total jackass. With an evacuation they should suspend service immediately except in the outbound direction, no word on NJT site yet.

My gf just went to walmart to buy a lots of snacks.

mfs NJT459 Posted August 26, 2011 Author Share #20 Posted August 26, 2011 this is just like the winter storms where all NJT employees have to report to work regardless of bus/rail service or not... i remember hearing about rescue buses on the Garden State Parkway rescuing snowbound people who were stuck in their cars on the GSP

553 Bridgeton Posted August 26, 2011 Share #24 Posted August 26, 2011 We are assisting in getting people out of Atlantic City. I have no idea when im leaving. We have been told we have to stay with our bus. The AC Expressway is the new Cross Bronx. AC bound 553s are ending at the Hamilton Mall and dhing to AC to get people out of there. All casinos except for Harrahs are closed. If this storms gets insane like they say NJT can kiss my ass goodbye! I ain gona die for this shyt. Academy need to get they lazy ******* asses up and get the hell down here with our damn buses. Atlantic City is going to be closed off to anything going on as of tonight. Anyone staying is on there own. All NJT buses are helping to get people out of AC and i have no idea when im leaving. All other buses are ending at pleasantville bus term and dhing to ac to get people out.
