East New York Posted May 6, 2012 Author Share #176 Posted May 6, 2012 Now that would be NJT's best recent order! Keep the RTS' status as the OFFICIAL local bus of New Jersey like it is now. These aren't local buses though. They are express buses they are interested in.

SirJokaPlaya Posted May 9, 2012 Share #178 Posted May 9, 2012 I would think that Market Street would be the better place to use these buses since they have a great deal of routes to the GWB, which really don't need a MCI. They would be perfect for the RTS Express buses. This would also work for the Meadowlands for the 123, 124, 125, and 127 Local (Not the Shaler Blvd extention since they EXPECT a MCI in the AM and PM), as well as the 181, 188, and the 329. The question is how many seats would it have. MTA's will have 49 because there is no rear door, but NJT wants express with a rear door which will eliminate 4 seats IIRC. IMO, it defeats the whole purpose if you opt for an express with a rear door, but word on the street is that's what NJT would want.
East New York Posted May 16, 2012 Author Share #180 Posted May 16, 2012 UPDATE The final high floor BTE proposal for MTA will likely be delayed once again. MTS has a potential customer just ahead of MTA for 2000 buses. They were supposed to meet with the officials of the foreign transit agency this week, however, there was an issue with their travel VISA's, and the trip to Roswell has been postponed. At this time, the low floor BTE proposal remains on track to be presented to MTA this fall.

East New York Posted May 21, 2012 Author Share #185 Posted May 21, 2012 What does this mean? Has the BT&E order been accepted? No, the order will not be excepted until MTA has demo tested both models, and agrees to the terms, conditions and costs of the new buses. I will post the updates later on today. Eric B Posted May 22, 2012 Share #189 Posted May 22, 2012 Is "slide-glide" the classic RTS front door? (I thought that was "plug") Or do they all use the new-look style, double swing/rotate?
FlyerD901 Posted May 22, 2012 Share #190 Posted May 22, 2012 I'm looking forward to the HF RTS more than the LF. I wonder Why MTA decided to go with 42 ft instead of 40ft? Not much of a difference, but enough to ask the question.

(I thought that was "plug") Or do they all use the new-look style, double swing/rotate? Pretty much the same as the doors on the Nova wide front door RTS. Plug type are classic like MTA's. I'm looking forward to the HF RTS more than the LF. I wonder Why MTA decided to go with 42 ft instead of 40ft? Not much of a difference, but enough to ask the question. With the HF you have 8 seats less than and MCI or Prevost, and with the LF you have up to 46 seats in a dense configuration, or 41-43 seats in a TA spec model. The bus market is saturated, instead of trying to directly compete with the 40 foot market, they have a bus that meets a growing demand in 2 different areas that are wide open. Especially the low floor, because now you can gain back all the seats you lost on a standard 40 LF.

East New York Posted May 27, 2012 Author Share #194 Posted May 27, 2012 Well I hope everything goes well! Do you know of any TA ordering RTS other than the MTA and the company ordering 2090 buses? There are a few other agencies lined up to take on some new buses as well, but MTS is waiting until the MTA order is done, as they want the buses spec'd similar when production ramps up. The WFD's use the old new-look style doors. ("double swing/rotate"). They are similar, but not the same. The new looks used the original slide-glide doors. The WFD uses a slide/swing type. Eric B Posted May 28, 2012 Share #195 Posted May 28, 2012 What's the difference between "slide" and "swing", then? ("Swing" sounds like what the new looks did, and both "slide" and "glide" sounds like what the plug doors do).

East New York Posted June 2, 2012 Author Share #198 Posted June 2, 2012 The first 21 MTS buses have the old classic mirror, which is no longer the standard spec. The last 15 buses off the line feature the new Roscoe brand mirrors which have a superior viewing area, and are also made in Flushing. These are the new standard, seen on the buses in the link below. http://www.ttmg.org/pages/millennium/tamu-millennium.html
youngblaze Posted June 3, 2012 Share #199 Posted June 3, 2012 Hopefully the units on order have a front end similar to the Texas A&M units...the ones on the first page are hideous lol....but its good that the roscoe mirror is now the standard option as the flat panel/convex combo is far better (visibility wise) than the one's currently installed. East New York Posted June 5, 2012 Author Share #200 Posted June 5, 2012 The buses will not look like the Texas A&M buses as they are not front door lift equipped. Both the high floor and low floor models on the first page will be what they look like.
