R188 7857 Posted September 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2011 Today, my brother was on-board a R62A train when he heard on a walkie-talkie the T/O had there was a track fire at Queensboro Plaza. And yes, there was. They were held at Court Sq. and you could see the train infront of us. He has some pics. When they approached the station, he saw dozens of workers, firefighters, and police there.

The trash and the electricity from the third rail causes the trash to catch fire. Therefore the track fire would start disabling a section of the subway system. Or something could've just gotten really hot... or overheated...

bveguy Posted September 11, 2011 Share #9 Posted September 11, 2011 Nothing new. Track fires happen all the time due to the morons who can't find the garbage bin on the platform when it is right next to them.
