I hope this NEVER happens to any pro sports team here in the US.

Locomotion69 Posted September 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2011 I got chills down my spine after learning about this. The name that i recognize most is Alexander Karpovtsev. Pavol Demitra and Igor Korolev are a couple more. One guy who survived(Alexander Galimov) has burns on 80% of his body. He is one of only two survivors. Russia has one of the worst air traffic safety records in the world.

alejr88 Posted September 8, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 8, 2011 What a terrible tragedy. May their souls rest in peace. As much as I hate the Boston Red Sox, I don't wish death nor something terrible like this happen to anyone at all.
Shortline Bus Posted September 8, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 8, 2011 What a terrible tragedy. May their souls rest in peace. As much as I hate the Boston Red Sox, I don't wish death nor something terrible like this happen to anyone at all. Very sad story. Reminds me of the Thurman Munson and Marshall University(basis for movie "we are marshall) tragic crashes as well. I also echo my consdolances and the players/others on that flight RIP.
SubwayGuy Posted September 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2011 This was extremely sad. Demitra was one of my favorite players...Salei and Skrastins were very celebrated in their home countries. Karpovtsev, Rachunek of course I always have a soft spot for those who were NY Rangers... McCrimmon a very sad story too, a new head coach excited to finally get the job and never coached his first game... Ex NHL Player Igor Korolev also... And some of those Russian kids were very young, way too young to go out in a tragedy like this... Many of these guys had families with very young kids... Best wishes to all of their friends and families.
