In addition, due to a loss of power:

Following an earlier incident (F)(2)(3) and (4) trains have resumed service with residual delays.

In addition, due to a loss of power there is no Smith Street-bound (G) trains between the Hoyt Street-Schmermerhorn Station and the Smith Street-9th Street Station.

Please expect delays in service on the (G) trains at this time.

Yeah loss of ac Signal power on the (F)(G) Lines around Began St. Also we had switch Problems at 42/8 Downtown (E) rerouted via (V) Line 5 Ave to W 4 and (C) via Express 59 to Canal.

Also after that a Downtown (A) had pulled cords do to a disorderly Customer at Chambers street they just had all downtown (A)(C)(E) trains hold in stations from 42 to Canal with selected (A)(C) trains being turned back uptown at World Trade.

I had R 328 today , started at 17:47 , made one round trip from 95th and back , then had a layup. Had about 15 minutes delay in downtown Manhattan , otherwise trip was normal. Coming back we were 3 minutes hot and got held at 36st. There was some excitement near the 10 car marker northbound at 49th street , watching two big rats fight over a scrap of bread. They really went at it. I really wanted to hang out and see how it ended , who won. Unfortunately the indicator light came on too soon and I had to go. If you're into rat watching (it's kind of like bird watching , subway style) , then 49th Northbound is where all the action is on the R line. Huge nest back there. I haven't posted in a while , thought I'd just throw that out there...

Off to AC later , play a little texas hold em , enjoy my two days off. Anyone else on here play poker / Texas Hold 'Em?

Talk to you all later

- Mike

I play Hold 'em at AC also. I was actually in Atlantic City this weekend. No Hold 'em this time just Three Card Poker with my girlfriend. I was up, down, up, down, up, up, down then out.

I usually play Hold 'em tournaments in Staten Island.

I got caught in the middle of all that mess when I was trying to get to Lower Manhattan. Took a (4) and get held many times, and the C/R not knowing where the train was going until he was finally told trains are only going to Bowling Green and turning there. No IRT service to Brooklyn whatsoever being told due to power failure.

Get home, find out the (F) and the (G) got FUBAR'd. Pretty crazy day.

People call birds (pigeons) "flying rats", so it's basically the same.

Played a lot more back in the day unfortunately less of my friends play now than used to, still game for a tourney or some low stakes games every now and then. Made some good money playing online before it was made illegal. Hold'ems my card game, although occasionally I'll still play some Blackjack

As for the rats, they can provide enjoyment. I always get a good laugh when people on the platform get squeamish seeing a rat in the TRACKS. Felt bad for this fellow though. He made his way on to the platform and then some... PWND as they say in "internet 2.0 slang"

Was that rat there between the doors when you found it? Was it already dead?

Man that's gotta hurt. We're lucky we don't get hurt when we stupidly stick our limbs into the door to hold the train up so we can get on.

Not my vid but the rat was already dead before that video was filmed.

If you want to see "Rats run wild" try Nostrand Ave Northbound (C) Platfrom.

Oh geez. And speaking of, that reminds me. 59th/CC on the (1) N/B had all kinds of rats running around the blue walls towards the rear of the platform about 6 months ago. Haven't been by there since though so not aware of any "current developments" in rat colonization...

Made some good money playing online before it was made illegal. Hold'ems my card game,

Well , back from AC ... won (well , actually my wife won :/ ... $700) ... so better than losing , yes , have I won back all I've lost yet ... lol ... no ...

SUBWAY GUY ... where did you play online? I played on Bodog , still do once in a while ... I won 12k in tourneys last year ... if you know how to access the poker DB online , you can see my stats ... I used to play under the simple name MJDNYC ... It's funny , I finished third in an online tourney the last weekend I was in schoolcar ... won $3500 , cashed out $3000 and blew the other $500 ... that was back in mid November '07 ... and I have not final tabled since online ... me thinks I'm a victim of the too quick cash out shutdown ... lol ... lately I've been sticking to live play only when I can ...

Back to work later , I'll be switching in the afternoon at Stillwell , and no , I didn't bribe anyone in Crew Assignment to get a nice , easy job , my first day back ...

Always good to make some back B)

As for me I played online mostly on PartyPoker (cuz lots of "fish" on there heh) but also played on Full Tilt and PokerStars here and there before cashing out about $1500 or so. On partypoker I once took one of those free $50 offers which gives you $50 more if you get through 500 hands...ended up making a decent roll by "bonus time" and got up to about 900 before cashing. For tourneys I always liked Full Tilt best. The Sit n Gos they had were pretty darn good. Also liked how if you could money two tourneys in a row and win a third you could turn $6 into $200. Almost did but got sucked out an AWFUL river, guy had about 4-5 outs and hit one, so I finished second in the 3rd tourney and "settled" for the $110 consolation

Haven't done much playing live since a buddy who used to have weekly games up at his house, 'cept with the Metro North I always started down $20 :) Been hopin to get down to AC or something soon though. Spent the last 4 years of my life (school) in RHODE ISLAND the land of the video slot machine...even got some sympathy from a casino worker when I asked him "how come you guys got no tables?" And that reminds me we used to have regular tourneys too back in the days of camp counseloring when we "weren't old enough to gamble" heh...came to the darn place with 50 bucks for 6 weeks one year thinkin "man I need some PAYCHECKS to get through this summer"...won 2 tourneys the first week and another later in the summer and ended up not touching the paychecks  good times.

not all fun and games though...knew a few who made a helluva lot more than I did...and lost it all getting their clocks cleaned whilst trying to "play with the pros..." Never understood that...Me I always gotta cash SOMETHING out

Dang I was gonna say, assignment like that maybe you guys were playing for shifts last poker night heh

Poker is tough ... that's why I don't quit my day job ... the TA pissed me off big time today ... I called Monday at 00:10 hrs and put in for my first ever AVA and I called a minute or so after the time comes to call , and today I come back from my RDO's and check to see that I got the day , and I find 30 names on the list for the day off , but not mine , so I call crew assignment and they tell me it's "pending" ... meanwhile , as far as I know , I was the 14th caller to request the day , so for the first time in my year and a week and a day subway career , I am royally pissed at the MTA. No doubt , it won't be the last time , either. Still , better to get that guaranteed check every two weeks than quit and try and become a 'poker pro' ... I honestly considered quitting my last job (alarm response work) before MTA to give it a go , and I took last May off , a full month , (once I knew I had been accepted for training here come June) , and went to AC and played cash games , and I did ok. I'm actually better at the cash games then the tourney's. Still , people run hot and cold with poker and I've done both , and I am COLD right now. Going to give it a short rest a while then get back into it again , but I'm pretty much done with online. Will stick to live play from now on. Are you coming down here to join us anytime soon? On any TA lists? ... Talk to you all soon , - Mike

Heh I think everyone that's ever played poker has dreamed of "going big" sometime, even me. But like you said it's hot and cold and just when you think "Maybe" after a long Hot here comes the Cold and it's back to reality.

Sucks about the AVA from what I hear they're really strict about putting in for it...

As for me, working at the transit museum this summer, then gonna give accounting a whirl and see where it leaves me, but a little worried because the hours are VERY long and you're always at someone's beck and call, plus I'm not getting assigned to the division I wanted to so I'm not going to be getting a lot of "interesting" clients (interesting to me at least). But that said I've always wanted to take the T/O test ever since I was a kid I wanted to operate heh... but not eligible yet b/c of the 5 years work requirement and from what i heard they're still calling from the LAST C/R exam (which I missed) so going in that way is a longshot because then I'd have to wait for the next C/R test, get in, and then take the promotional exam for T/O after a couple successful years as a C/R. I figure I'm going to give the accounting a whirl, and take the next O/C T/O exam and see where I am if Im happy with the accounting...if the answer's yes I'll stick with it, if it's No maybe I'll see ya down there if I pass schoolcar heh

From what I know as a rider I'd think the lines I'd like to operate if I had a choice would be the (B)ravo, (E)cho, (M)ikey (not on weekends though B) ), or (W)hisky so I'd guess that'd give me options in every district. But well aware of the Extra Extra status that would await me if I got in in a few years haha. From the Stillwell reference...I'm guessing you're in the South?

I got shafted a few times myself (had to cancel a vacation once because of it:mad:).
