N-Trizzy2609 Posted September 18, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2011 Replacements for some of the D60s? Cuz I thought it was an all LFS-A affair that's eliminating them.
East New York Posted September 18, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted September 18, 2011 This is an Articulated test fleet which will qualify the New Flyer for evaluation in future articulated requirements.
Metro CSW Posted September 19, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2011 This is an Articulated test fleet which will qualify the New Flyer for evaluation in future articulated requirements. So would it mean that: 1- MTA could order more XD60s if the Artic BT&E is successful. 2- may replace last of D60s and other "end of line" buses as well. ...?? KNIGHTRIDER3:16 Posted September 19, 2011 Share #5 Posted September 19, 2011 Would this bus give the LFSA a run for its money? I like this design better so I want to know the ETA to NY?

Yes. 2. WILL definitely replace some of the D60HF's. Would this bus give the LFSA a run for its money?I like this design better so I want to know the ETA to NY? All I can say is we shall see! I like the design better myself. However, the LFS is a solid bus. A lot of people have slept on it. Get rid of those sealed beams, and add the LED's, and we're cooking with gas! I still haven't decided whether I like the Allison on ZF combo best.....
aemoreira81 Posted September 19, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2011 Vis a vis this fleet, wouldn't they be more likely to replace rigids? The 5510-5769 batch isn't up for replacement until 2014-5 at the earliest.
Rockaway Express Posted September 19, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 19, 2011 The Xcelsior will replace some of the old Galaxy Articulated Buses. It will give MTA outlook a face lift. (Bx12) (M5) (M42) (M100)

East New York Posted October 22, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted October 22, 2011 I apologize to all who follow these threads, as I have not made updates at all this month. The XD60 award has been pushed back to February pending a second shaker test. According to my sources, the MTA wants to evaluate the bus further before they go ahead with the order. Stay tuned for more updates.

Lothian Posted November 3, 2011 Share #14 Posted November 3, 2011 2013? Like in, another full year? Were there major issues with the prototype? Would New Flyer and the MTA consider going for D60LFRs instead?

Would New Flyer and the MTA consider going for D60LFRs instead? 2013 is correct! I'm getting details this week, so I will try and find out. But no, I don't think they want to go for LFR's. But that's just my opinion. As we have all seen since last summer, this is just getting crazier by the day!

tlcohen Posted November 3, 2011 Share #17 Posted November 3, 2011 I was really looking forward to riding these babies sooner. I think you said that some could be assigned to an SBS in Brooklyn. I guess I'll have to be patient. But, thanks for the info.
