EE Broadway Local Posted September 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 17, 2011 Just curious: Do you like Chicago's subway and elevated system? My favorite "L" line is the Brown Line (aka "the Ravenswood Line").

TheKorean Posted September 26, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2011 I am studying in chicago right now. Not a bad system, Red and Blue line runs all day and all night so thats convenient since my school has its own station on the Blue Line. Good connection to both Midway (orange) and OHare (blue). Stations are old and dirty though. And plus I dont trust some of the platforms on the elevated lines on the Looop, they shake a little during heavy wind and the platform is made out of wood. 20 Dundalk Posted October 22, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2011 I was there back in 92 and the L was okay very crowded lots of hustlers-people selling ziplock bags of peanuts singers etc some stations were a little dirty but i liked it
East New York Posted October 22, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 22, 2011 I think it's pretty unique. I was in Chicago two weeks ago. I was supposed to post pics and vids, but I keep forgetting. The system looks pretty efficient. The trains are pretty old, but look well maintained. I only got a chance to check out the Red Line, and the Blue Line. Nova RTS 9147 Posted October 22, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 22, 2011 Favorite lines: Brown Line and the Skokie Swift (which IMO was better with catenary) Noteworthy Mention: The platform that seemingly never ends on the Blue Line. One of the true historic gems of the system. the L is a great system despite (or because of) its archaic elements.
RookiePhenom Posted October 25, 2011 Share #9 Posted October 25, 2011 Having lived here (in Chicago) all of my life, my opinion is that when it works its amazing. When it doesn't, it becomes a running gag.
