553 Bridgeton Posted September 26, 2011 Share #27 Posted September 26, 2011 I wonder what would be ridership be on an NJ to westchester rte ending at cross county??? via empire. Zero; because it aint happening. NJT has no business going up to Cross County. Just because the shopping center is insanly crowded in the summer doesnt mean it warrents NJT bus to go out of the way. BZGuy Posted September 27, 2011 Share #29 Posted September 27, 2011 Look at the major deegan at the interchange Outside of rush hours the Deegan wasn't that bad, usually minor delays from Fordham Rd to the GWB. Now that that construction has started at the bridge, traffic is backed up to Van Cortlandt on a daily basis. As it stands traffic wise if you sent buses over the GWB, you really better plan to pad the hell outta those schedules for the return because it's easily 1+ hr delays to get onto the bridge. 553 is right.....that's one stone better left unturned. It starts off as a separate fort lee rte but if it carries heavy then it may get merged with a GWB based rte. The schedules would be adjusted several detours will be attempted to find the fastest rte. The line may be limited to rush hr

Anyways the GWB doesnt only back up during rush hour. It can be just as bad outside of rush hour. NjT would never go for this plain and simple, the OT on such a route would be insane. When GWB backs up it aint pretty. Please dont turn this thread into an all out thread about new routes. Back on topic sheesh....
