Service Alert

Posted on:6/11/2008 2:08:05 PM

Due to a temporary loss of LIPA electrical power in the Rockaways, there is no a.gif train service in both directions between the Howard Beach-JFK Airport Station and the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue and the Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street Stations.

As an alternate, customers are advised to take the Q21 bus running along Cross Bay Boulevard for service to and from the Rockaways.

Please expect delays in a.gif train service at this time.

Another reason why these R160's cant run out there power "Issues"..

School is letting out soon as well oh its gonna be "fun" on that (A)pple line in a Bit if they dont get this problem fixed.

Don't the R32 R38 R42 and R44 use more energy than the R160?????

They 160s are soppsed to be energy effient which means use less energy. Than DC traction trains so it seems weird that they can't run out there.

No they arent all NTT's(R142,R143,R160) are AC traction Motors they use DC Power and "convert it" to AC power...

SMEE equpiment uses DC power and they have DC traction Motors..

Oh ok got you.....

And service has went back to normal with some delays. But an train broke down and that causing more delays....

Following an earlier incident, (A) train service has resumed in the Rockaways with residual delays.

In addition, due to a train with mechanical problems at the Broadway Junction Station, Inwood-bound (A) trains are running local from the Euclid Avenue Station to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station.

Please expect delays in (A) train service at this time.
