MarkD329 Posted April 1, 2013 Share #976 Posted April 1, 2013 i wonder if the 29 40 ft NABIs at Egg Harbor are enough for the 502, 507, 508, 509, plus the spares been showing up on the 552, 553, and 559 and you also did not change the Salem County roster Considering Atlantic City's bus routes long headways, and some interlining, the four routes mentioned uses around 16-17 buses on a weekday, with the 502 and the 507 probably using 5 buses on each route, and the 508/509 using about 3 buses on each route. With 4 or 5 buses undergoing service that brings the number to 22 buses with 7 spares to be assigned to whatever route that needs them. It seems to me that if you see a NABI on the 552/553/559, then there must be a shortage of MCIs at Egg Harbor as those long-distance routes require these 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Obviously the chances of them getting more are slim now since we're into the 6300s, so for BusTime purposes I think they'll start shifting RTS from NJT to the PBLs in addition to scrap and putting NABIs into service with NJT. We could be seeing RTSs at the PBLs for quite some time, I think they might try to retire as many of the unrehabbed ones as possible and shift the rehabbed units to the PBLs while taking the NABIs back. After all the statewide rollout of BusTime is supposed to be real soon, and with most buses Clever Device equipped now all they have to do is retire/send to the PBLs the last buses that won't be getting them. They're likely going to be shifted to the PBLs to retire their unrehabbed units for BusTime (NJT gets their NABIs). Don't expect them to stick around much longer, unless they're actually gonna put Clever Devices in them. Anyway, I don't see any of the PBLs loosing their NABIs at all, in fact Bergen Ave IBOA might have the newer RTS' for the same reason Academy Perth Amboy did, to get the drivers accustomed to the Orange LED destination signs so they'll be ready for their share of NABIs. Plus if NJT is gonna install bus time for the PBLs, there won't be a need to take the NABIs out of the PBLs, they could just install them while their with the PBLs. On another note today is the 1-year anniversary of Red & Tan in Hudson County's death. Anyway, we're already well into the 6300s and the chances of the PBLs getting enough NABIs to completely wipe out the RTS is slim. If the rest of the order can wipe out the remaining RTS under NJT, then there will be no need to shift buses and the PBLs will keep the NABIs they already got. But I think the unrehabbed units will still be retired and replaced with rehabbed ones sent over from NJT. If the rest of the NABI order doesn't wipe out the RTS at NJT, either they get Clever Devices or the PBLs will lose a good amount of NABIs in exchange for rehabbed RTS.
