I haven't seen anything on here since I've been here (July 2010), but many other forums I've been on have an end-of-the-year awards for various categories and we should have one here too. This is just for us in this particular sub-forum, not site-wide (e.g. Buses or Commuter rail forums). Several mock awards are listed, I ask to only nominate up to three people per category (CAN'T NOMINATE YOURSELF, SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO NOMINATE YOU). Feel free to browse through the threads on here to look for eligible candidates, and edit your posts as necessary. Nominations will go on all month long. "Employee of the Year" - Best TA Employee Poster (current/retired TA Employees only). 3. "The Librarian" Most Knowledgeable Poster. 4. "The Professor" Most Respected Poster. 5. "The Makeup Artist" - Best Fantasy Poster (fantasy maps, routes, etc). 6. "Staff of the Year" - Best Forum Staff (mod/admin only). 7. "Candid Camera Award" - Best photographer/videographer (to the person with the best photo shoots and videos). 8. "The Railking" - Best Railfan (not necessary a pure buff, but who's out there often with pics, information, maps or suggestions, tried riding to each stop this year, etc). 9. "The True Buff" - Best Train Buff (it gets technical here). 10. "Poster of the Year" - Best Overall Poster (when it comes to pure quality and quantity of posts). I didn't vote in this poll but I would like to point out that I DO read everything posted on our forums. I may be older than most of you and have a M/M and C/R background but I remember my grandmother telling me that "you're never too old to learn". I respect the opinions of MOST of my fellow posters and I try to learn from all. I defer to some, like B35, Brooklyn Bus, INDman, and SubwayGuy, among others, because they seem to have a more intimate knowledge of certain subjects than even an old guy like me. Via G 8, checkmate, lilblue, and even you, Roadcruiser, have different ways of thinking about subjects that pique my interest. Like I said, I read everything and enjoy the posts. One thing I will ask of my fellow posters is that we try to be civil at all times, even in times of disagreement. You don't have to respond to every post like it's a personal attack. We do have one poster who frequents the bus forum, who shall remain nameless, who has a plan for every surface line from Montauk Point to DC. Do what I do and either skim through those posts or ignore them like I do. No sense getting into a pissing contest, and possibly banned, for such trivial nonsense.
