R188 7857 Posted October 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2011 Hey guys, I have saved my Youtube videos onto my computer, but there is one problem. They save it in .FLV format, and I want it in .AVI or .WMV format. Is there any free software without viruses that I can download? Oh, and BTW my camera takes videos in HD, so I need one that converts it and makes it 1080p. It would be much better because I do not need Foxtab FLV Player. I could just use Windows Media Player.
Amtrak7 Posted October 7, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2011 Try this: http://www.pazera-software.com/products/vcsuite/ I first try AVI with the video codec setting of H.264, then try MP4 with the default codec if it doesn't work.

CenSin Posted October 23, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2011 http://handbrake.fr/ Open source, multi-format support, no ads, no money, no b*llsh*t. It converts FLV files and plenty of formats you probably never even heard of. It works on Windows, Mac, and Linux so your choice of operating system doesn't really matter here. B35 via Church Posted October 23, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2011 too bad I didn't see this thread sooner.... fam, you can have WMP play FLV's w/o havin to sit up there & convert anything.... WMP is my default flv player (although I also have "FLV player").... all you need are codecs.... - try the most recent "k-lite codec pack" (I think it's 7.8.0) OR - get the solitary WMP FLV codec from: http://playflv.com/flvplugincodec To be honest, I don't see why anyone would even want to convert an flv to an AVI.... you end up w/ a (much) larger file w/ poorer quality, on top of it.... Guest lance25 Posted November 4, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 4, 2011 @Casey: I know that if you have RealPlayer, you can download any YT video and convert it into basically any format you can think of. Best thing is that it's free and you know it won't come with any adware, spyware, etc.

Or instead of conversions, just go to http://www.keepvid.com It lets you save the 1080p HD videos in MP4 format (playable by Windows Media Player (Windows 7 only))
