Cait Sith Posted October 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2011 Fanning those 1000s, top of my priority list....1086 was one of my favs too.... But 1100 and 1038 stand out as my two top favs... In my opinion, these buses had the best sounding fans ever, especially better than the EGR units....
mtattrain Posted October 15, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2011 Good luck at NIMCO, 1086. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Not the only D60 killed off this year; I found 1045, 1070, 1087 and 5401 all at Eastchester: By mta_t_train at 2011-09-23 By mta_t_train at 2011-09-23 By mta_t_train at 2011-09-23 By mta_t_train at 2011-09-23 Any word on what will happen to 1086 and 1075? R42 M Train Posted October 15, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 15, 2011 I hope 1073 is still alive. I'm suprised 1024 at KB is still even running, if you seen that bus recently; that bus is extremely beat and rusted
gtNovaBusRTS9369 Posted October 15, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2011 Since I'm gaining interest in the New Flyer Arics myself I thought I'd better start with the #1000's series ASAP. I would at least start my capturing a picture of one for the very least.

We're just swapping some parts off of it onto other buses before it takes the trip to eastchester. 1075 has another couple months. The only reason 1086 is gettin g the axe early is because it needs head gasket. It's not worth sending the bus to zerega to only use it for a couple more months, especially when they usually take a month with stuff like that because its so backed up over there supposedly. LRG Posted October 15, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 15, 2011 Those New Flyers sure took a beating. I was never attracted to the New Flyer fleet, but heaven knows i'll miss them now since they're heading out the door.

And during its days at Quill on the M79 (during the 1000s transfer to 126) I rode that bus before I moved to Queens in the early AM, that bus can haul ass! Nonetheless, I'll be in the city for the most part riding these, then head over to West Farms turf for these (if there are any left...) 1066 over at the farms...great bus.... Also, are some going to MTA BUS? 1000-1109 will be replaced, but they'll probably fully retire around early to mid-2012 and will be replaced with LFS-As. And I don't think some will go to MTA Bus. Blitz Posted October 18, 2011 Author Share #23 Posted October 18, 2011 It's only 1086 going, not 1075, right? 1000-1109 and 5250-5509, the latter batch which have really been beat to premature death, especially at 100th Street. WF still runs plenty of the 1000s luckily, I see them on the Bx15 all the time... 1075 is safe for now, it still has the fare box and all its parts. 1086 is in need of engine repair, hence its early retirement. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a spare artic from eastchester just to pass the time.
