LRG Posted October 22, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2011 Wirelessly posted via (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5) I use iOS Safari to browse the web and for the first time today when I load the page the mobile site came up. Thing is, I'm not so fond of the mobile style as it takes away some of the features (e.g. chatbox), and when I try to load the desktop site it redirects me to the mobile site. Is there anything that can be done to get around this for the iOS and Android users who may not prefer the mobile site ?

I configured my Thunderbolt to only use the desktop to view all websites since I have no reason to use the mobile versions. I also set up my phone to use 4G only so the desktop view makes a lot more sense with such a fast connection. You have an iPhone though so I don't know where to go. In my phone, when I go to the web, I go to the menu options and then go to "more" and then "settings" and there's an option there to disable the mobile view. Start with that if you have that set up. East New York Posted October 24, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2011 So...anything to resolve this issue yet? You'd be better off sending Harry a PM about it. I only know what to do for non-Safari devices.
rr4567 Posted October 24, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2011 So...anything to resolve this issue yet? Drop Safari. Not kidding, either. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sleipnir-mobile-web-browser/id404732112

rr4567 Posted November 12, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2011 Is there a way to see the full site on an iPhone without switching browsers? Nope because there's no way to change the iPhone's user agent string. (unless you jailbreak)

rr4567 Posted November 14, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 14, 2011 O damn. That browser you posted is it any good? I couldn't tell you (I don't own any Apple devices). I just looked for one that you could change the user agent on.
INDman Posted November 15, 2011 Share #11 Posted November 15, 2011 O damn. That browser you posted is it any good? I used it for all of about 30 seconds before deleting it. I'd rather use the mobile site then that browser.

Harry Posted November 19, 2011 Share #13 Posted November 19, 2011 I totally disabled the mobile site until I can get the issue with the subdomain resolved.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted November 19, 2011 Share #14 Posted November 19, 2011 Unless you have a crappy cell phone, quite frankly the normal site should work just fine. I have used the regular site with my Thunderbolt without any hiccups.
Eric B Posted November 22, 2011 Share #15 Posted November 22, 2011 I totally disabled the mobile site until I can get the issue with the subdomain resolved.Great, because I originally could only get the mobile site (G1 Phone); then, after you did something, I could get the regular site, but a few weeks ago, I started being able to only get the mobile site again. Now, I see the regular site again.
Harry Posted November 23, 2011 Share #16 Posted November 23, 2011 You can now select the "Mobile Version" of this forum on the footer of the site. You can then switch back to the "Full Version" of the forum on the header of the mobile version. This way seems to be the most practical to use. Enjoy!
