qjtransitmaster Posted October 29, 2011 #1 Posted October 29, 2011 What bus lines would you create based on the rte 73 and I-295 corridors based on traffic conditions in the area. What would you do If you were an NJT analyst and you were tasked with modifying the southern NJ bus network.
mfs NJT459 Posted October 29, 2011 #2 Posted October 29, 2011 It has already been looked at as far as Rt 42, 55, 676... Possibility of adding bus lanes... The only bus routes that use I-295 is 318 Philly-Six Flags and 418 Camden-Trenton There should be a 406 express off of Rt 70 to I-295 all the way to Camden or even Philly (not stopping at WRTC)

qjtransitmaster Posted October 29, 2011 Author #6 Posted October 29, 2011 i would consider using the gobus service in those corridors interesting from where to where??? I never would have even imagined gobus in SJ I actually looked at restructuring 409 and 418 to use those corridors after eliminating philly bound segment on 409. But gobus seems like it may be easier to do ok an example plz. @mfs NJT459 ok 406 express??? how frequent would it be??

Jersey routes
mfs NJT459 Posted October 29, 2011 #8 Posted October 29, 2011 @mfs NJT459 ok 406 express??? how frequent would it be?? During AM/PM rush hours.... probably the buses that also serve Cherry Hill Industiral Park...

MarkD329 Posted October 29, 2011 #10 Posted October 29, 2011 what rtes would you create?? for those corridors 295 and rte 73 I would start off with an interstate route running from Lindenwold PATCO to SEPTA Frankford Transit Center. Start At Lindenwold PATCO, run down Rt. 30 to Berlin-Crosskeys Rd, Left on B-C Rd to Rt. 73, then on Rt. 73 to the new Virtua Hosp. Campus, go in and out the campus, back on Rt. 73 to Collins Rd. Right on Collins Rd, Left on Lenola Rd then right into the NJT Moorestown Mall Stop. Backtrack on Lenola and Collins Rds to Rt 73, then back on Rt. 73 all the way up to and onto River Rd [Rt. 543], to the Pennsauken Rt.73 RiverLINE station. Backtrack over River Rd and Rt. 73 to Rt. 130, 130 to Rt.90, 90 over the Betsy Ross Bridge, on to I-95, Aramingo/Harbison Ave to Frankford Ave to the SEPTA Terminal. As far as Rt. 295, any bus routes going to the industrial parks lining the highway would have the Woodcrest PATCO station as their start point. Either it wold be individual routes to each industrial park or one route making several stops at each park.

However about the rte on rte 73 the reason why I asked was cause NJT had a former line called 414 that did just that but originated at marlton how would you make sure your route will not suffer from low ridership in the same way the old 414 did???? have the times changed to warrant a full route down rte 73 entirely??? instead of a series of lines??? If a line is going to go to riverline rte 73 shouldn't it stay on 73 en rte to frankford??? or should it go to rte 1 to the wissohocken transfer center(rush hr only)(closed door)??? Let me hear your thoughts. Also how frequent should this rte 73 route be??? Last year while I was making the NJT proposal after being asked for it I was scared to even thread on that cause history didn't favor it. I guess you are an expert so your plan might work better anyway. I look forward to hear more from you in the future. Also for I-295 which parks did you have in mind??
qjtransitmaster Posted October 29, 2011 Author #12 Posted October 29, 2011 How many ppl travel from woodbury to moorestown via I-295

Also for I-295 which parks did you have in mind?? 1] The original 414 failed because of lousy scheduling. It ran every 60-120 minutes on weekdays only, plus I think it bypassed Moorestown Mall, [not to mention that the RiverLINE did not exist in the early 90's so no great connections. In fact connections to the 409 and 419 as well as the other buses that rt. 73 crossed were too poor to sustain the line.]. Frankford is far enough for the bus in Philly, SEPTA provides much better connections North, South and West of the Frankford Terminal. The key to making this bus successful is taking people to all of the major traffic generators on Rt. 73. Starting at SEPTA-Frankford, then RT. 73 RiverLINE station, Fox Meadows Apts, Moorestown Mall, Greentree Corporate Center, Marlton Crossing, the new Virtua Hospital complex and the new stripmalls that have been built on Rt. 73 since the 90's [which warrented the piecemeal extension of the 406 in the 90's & 00's], and finally provide another way to reach these places without making someone go to Camden to make a transfer [a time-waster and well, have you been to Camden lately? The WRTC is the "Human Misery Show"]. A scheduled interval of 30 minutes from 6am to 8pm and 60 minutes from 8pm to midnight [weekdays] and every 60 minutes from 6am to midnight would work fine for this line. 2] As far as the buses on Rt. 295? Industrial parks I was thinking about were the Cherry Hill Industrial Park, Westhampton Industrial Park, and Pureland Industrial Park to the south.

Thank you so much for your insight I knew something was up with that line thx for confirming that maybe hourly trips to AC via AC international airport could work of course only to meet scheduled flights. heck it could be the next 553 in terms of ridership lol. and another branch to vineland however I am not exactly sure if that can be feasible. Are you sure this line would even warrant service after midnight as well those areas are dead ya know after around 10 PM. As for I-295 I think restructuring 418 would be great for this as it can make connections at moorestown mall for many different rtes and link at woodbury to let pureland bound ppl get the 402 and connections with other 400 lines there thus increasing demand on those lines. 418 (short version) can devour 602 or end at trenton for the long version.
