To add on to the previous suggestions:

(4) service is split: 1st between Woodlawn & Grand Central, 2nd between Brooklyn Bridge & Utica Av (either that or bring in the (J) shuttle between Essex St & Prospect Park)

(5): weekends to South Ferry for connections to (N)

(N): 1st portion should be extended to Herald Sq to connect to (D) and orange (R), 2nd portion extended to Whitehall St northbound for lower Manhattan-Brooklyn connections (since the (R) is running over the Manhattan Bridge) and to alleviate overcrowding on IRT platforms at downtown Brooklyn stations

There have been some interesting situations going on here. As TM5 says, carry on.

(:) trains would terminate at Grand Street.

(D) trains would run on the Culver Line to Coney Island.

(N) trains would run via Montague Street Tunnel to the Sea Beach Line.

(Q) trains would run via Montague Street Tunnel to the West End Line.

The Brighton Line would become a large (S) from Dekalb Avenue to Coney Island without express service, and the Franklin (S) would be extended farther south to Brighton Beach to give more transfer options to Brighton riders.

Ummm, I'd run the (C) on it's regular route, and not touch it!

As for the routes to replace the (E), I'd send select (F) trains onto the 53rd St. Connector, as for the loss of the 63rd Connector Service, I'd send few (R) service onto it.

~or~

Simply extend the (M) line to 71st Ave. - Forest Hills over the weekend.

You have another problem, what runs to Jamaica Center?

(:) & (D) trains are terminated at West 4th Street, or 34th Street.

(F) trains are rerouted to the Cranberry Street Tunnels with the (A) & (C) to South Brooklyn.

(M) trains are sent to Chambers Street.

(W) is brought back to provide West End Line with subway service.

I don't think the Cranberry tubes could handle three lines running on it. I'm going to assume you're responding to the problem at B'way-Lafayette and not the MannyB closure scenario.

I would run the (F) from Coney Island to Essex-Delancey. You have the option of laying up trains on the tracks northwards to 2 Av since no service will be there, and there is a double crossover south of Essex to provide switching moves. To alleviate the inevitable congestion at that terminal, I'd have alternate trains begin/end their run at Jay St.

I do like your (W) train idea. Where would its northern terminal be--Pacific? I know that at Whitehall the signal does not permit moves into the pocket track going northbound. Perhaps it could be a <W> like the <R> and run from Chambers to Coney?

Due to structural issues, the Broadway-Lafayette (:)(D)(F)(M) station is closed and trains cannot pass through. (The (4)(5)(6) are unaffected)

How would you alter service on the (:P(D)(F)(M) (might also have to play with the (A)(C)(E))?

(B) trains are suspended

(D) trains run in two sections-

1.From Norwood-205 St to 34 St-Herald Sq

2.From Atlantic Ave-Pacific St to Coney Island-Stillwell Ave

<D> rush hour service is suspended

(F) trains run via the (A) from West 4 St-Washington Sq to Jay St-Metrotech

(M) trains run via the (J) from Essex St to Chambers St

(N) trains stop at DeKalb Avenue

How about sending the (R) up to Jamaica-Parsons? It has been done before, albeit rarely. Late nights, I'd split the (F) between 179 St and Parsons-Archer.

Of course, I'm wondering exactly why the (E) would be shut down in the first place. What kind of situation would completely shut down a line without affected anything else? I'm just curious, not trying to bust anyone's balls here.

Well for awhile, the reroute scenarios have been getting lamer by the page, and involve things that are virtually impossible (a manhole explosion putting all of Long Island City in the dark along with the services that run through there? lol). Its like people are trying to put stuff that will stump people completely no matter how whimsical it is.

A major replacement of switches is going on at 36th st in Brooklyn on the (D)(N)and (R) and the MTA with its new pilot wants to get it done in a week or so.But doing it would cause the entire area to be closed for a whole week. What would you do?

(D) Trains run to CI via Culver

(D) replaced by BM6

Bradway-Lafeyette Station - CI Terminal

(N) Trains run to Whitehall St

(N)Replaced by BM7

Canal St - CI Terminal

(R) Trains Bay Ridge Shuttle

(R) replaced by BM8

Whitehall St - 59 St,Brooklyn

(G) Trains replace (R) in Queens

Express Bus Replacement stops at all the respective stops of the replaced line

All 3 Tracks on the Simpson Street Curve are being replaced and the Freeman Street Interlocking is still in place. How would you change service?

(2) trains run in 2 sections-

From Wakefield-241 St to Freeman Street

From 137 St-City College or Harlem-148 St to Flatbush Ave-Brooklyn College

(5) trains run in 2 sections-

From Eastchester-Dyre Ave to East 180 St

From 3 Ave to Bowling Green or Flatbush Ave-Brooklyn College

Due to switch problems at 96th street (1)(2)(3) and 125th street (4)(5)(6)<6> no trains can pass through either junction, how would you reroute service?

Let me take a shot (and let me know how badly I screw this up):

(1) Operate 242 to 103

(2) Operates in two sections: Wakefield to Cathedral Parkway and 96th to Flatbush via Local

(3) No service in Harlem, Express New Lots to 96th

Shuttle buses along Cathedral Parkway/ Central Park North (1)(2)(3)(A)(B)(C)(D) stations to 96th.

Make (:P Operate Express to compensate for the lack of (3) in Midtown

------------------------------------

(4) in Bronx: Local Woodlawn to 138

(5) in Bronx: Local Eastchester to Central Park North

(6) in Bronx: Local Pelham to 3Av

No <4><5><6> Service.

(4) in Manhattan: 125 to New Lots (see exception below)

(5) in Manhattan: 125 to Flatbush

(6) in Manhattan: Either 125 to Brooklyn Bridge (send <4> Express) or Franklin (via Lex Local)

Metro-North honors valid Metrocards during this time?

Brooklyn service remains unchanged (unless the 6 goes to Franklin)

Alright ladies and gents: Have at it! B)

@ RookiePhenom

ooh.... ouch. Have you ever seen an NYC subway track map? That's how you solve it, because

A. The switches at 96th are north of the Junction and trains cant turn there,

B. The (5) does not go to central park north.....

C. There is no need for (B) express on CPW. You have the (A) and (D).

D. *Facepalm* Turning trains at 125 means usind the switches an junctions... meaning trains cannot turn there.

E. Now sit in the corner. Re-think you post as you look at the track maps on nycsubway.org

<D> rush hour peak direction service is suspended.
