NO.

Wow, you guys are getting on my ass for calling something a new number, for a LONG TERM advisory. Not to mention neither of those follow any of today's service patterns, so naming it (2)(3)(4)(5) is out of the question.

Anybody else wanna go for this? Make sure to also read extremely carefully and know the regular routes the (E)(F)(M)(R) travel before having your maps ready for these reroutes.

Next:

Here's another complicated scenario. Have track maps ready.

Due to a power failure at 36th Street on the IND Queens Boulevard Line, the switches are stuck in the positions they were in when the outage occurred This affects all lines, as it is south and north of the station.

Southbound:

Queens Boulevard Express --> 63rd Street --> 6th Avenue Local

Queens Boulevard Express --> 53rd Street --> 8th Avenue Local

Queens Boulevard Local --> 53rd Street --> 8th Avenue Local

Queens Boulevard Local --> 63rd Street --> 6th Avenue Local -> 4th Avenue Local after Bridge

Northbound:

6th Avenue Local --> 63rd Street --> Queens Boulevard Express

8th Avenue Local --> 53rd Street --> Queens Boulevard Express

8th Avenue Local --> 53rd Street --> Queens Boulevard Local

4th Avenue Local before Bridge --> 6th Avenue Local --> 63rd Street --> Queens Boulevard Local

Reroute the (E), (F), (M), and (R).

This isn't very realistic, since a power outage at 36 St, Queens should not affect switches in Brooklyn. Also, how come 4 Av local trains can only run via 6 Av Local, while B and D trains can continue via 6 Av Exp (that's only one inconsistency, there are others)?

Despite that:

(C) Trains run express south of 59 St.

(E) Unaffected

(F) Unaffected

(M) Trains run via 8 Av in both directions between 5 Av/53 St and W 4 St.

(R) Trains run via bridge, 6 Av, and 63 St.

NEXT

Because of a fire in a control tower, no switches can be moved along the Broadway Line between Queens/Queensboro Plaza and Atlantic Av, inclusive.

Fine......

And here's the answer:

(E) via 63rd and 6 Av to/from 2 Av

(F) via 53rd and 8 Av then normal by Jay St-MetroTech

(M) via 53rd and 8 Av to/from WTC

(R) via 63rd, 6 Av Local, then Bridge and regular by DeKalb

Maybe an (S) was more suitable for the situation. But I see your logic.

The reason why I didn't make it an (S) was because it makes quite a few stops.

And also, I think it would make it easier to distinguish which train was going where with two different designations.

Due to a reconstruction project, both Manhattan-bound tracks are impassable at Hoyt St (2)(3). Because this is a long-term change, the Brooklyn-bound express track has been reverse-signalled between Atlantic Av and Borough Hall.

Reroute: (2)(3)(4)(5), provide alternative service on other lines

Duration: 5 years

(2) trains run from 242nd Street to Wall Street (crossover created before Wall Street) 10TPH

Red (3) trains run from Wall Street to Lenox Terminal.

Green (3) trains run from Woodlawn to New Lots Avenue via Lexington Avenue express 7TPH

(4) trains run normal service.

(5) trains run in Brooklyn, all times except Weekends.

Weekends, (4) trains to Flatbush Avenue.

Switch problems at the 142 St junction...switch stuck in favor of Lenox.

(2) trains run from Flatbush to Lenox Term

(5) trains via Bronx local and Dyre Avenue.

<5> trains via Bronx express in peak direction and to 241st Street.

NEXT

Because of a fire in a control tower, no switches can be moved along the Broadway Line between Queens/Queensboro Plaza and Atlantic Av, inclusive.

(N) trains via tunnel.

(Q) suspended temporarily.

(B) via Brooklyn local.

Because of a hurricane,

The (7) cannot access the portal @Flushing-Main Street

The (E) is not usable east of Jamaica Van Wyck

The (J) is not usable east of 121st St

The (F) on Hillside Ave is usable, but trains cannot stop there

And quite a few trains in Jamaica Yard are damaged, so try to run services with about 100 less cars.

(E) trains suspended (makes up for lack of cars)

(F) trains make no stops along Hillside

(J) trains terminate at 121st Street, some at ENY

(Z) suspended, use (J)

(7) terminate at Willets, no express

All northbound switches at 149th Street are set in favor of White Plains, and all southbound switches are set in favor of Lexington Avenue. Reroute the (2), (4), and (5).

Do not put all three on the Lex express, this is over 40 TPH and will cause insane delays. It's not possible, no matter what it may seem.

If it's impossible, then how come the MTA always does it when there's a problem on 7 Av, without the ridiculous delays you imply?

A few months back I rode a (2) from 86th to Brooklyn Bridge and it was one of the fastest rides downtown ever.

It is mathematically impossible considering the system and the peak TPH. They cannot reroute all (2) trains over the Lex when it happens...

Except they do, with no ridiculous delays.

23 St/6 Av is impassable.

Do the math, it is impossible.

(B): Suspended.

(D): No service between 34th Street and West Fourth Street.

(F): Some trains via Crosstown, others run between World Trade Center & 179th Street.

(M): No service north of Nassau Street.

(G): Extended to Kings Highway to supplement (F) service.

Its impossible yet they always pump trains in there until the issue is solved.

Moving along...

Loss of power along 4 Av south of 36 St. Reroute the (D)(N)(R)

Note: 36 St itself has no power
