Subway - What If?

So, if I have this right, you can use the Montague tunnel and stops between there and Chambers, but no other subway tunnel into Brooklyn south of Chambers. If that is the case, then here's how I handle it:

(A) runs local in Manhattan from 168th Street-West 4th and then via the (F) to Jay Street (normal express in Brooklyn).

Good, except there's no reason why the C can't run in Manhattan.

(C) runs High Street-Brooklyn Bridge to Euclid Avenue ONLY

IMO, it's a bit too much single tracking, but that could be debated

(E) runs normally as long as the platforms at Chambers Street (normal or the (A) line) can be used to terminate. Otherwise, E runs normally from Jamaica Center to Penn Station (except using the express track at 34th and 42nd Street going downtown) and then going downtown after Penn Station goes to the uptown express track and is wrong-railed between Penn Station and Canal Street, where it terminates, skipping 23rd and Spring Street going downtown and terminating on the uptown tracks at Canal Street. Going uptown, the (E) does make all stops on the local track after Canal Street per normal.

Good.

Spring Street only has uptown (E) service at this time, 23rd Street has the (A) stopping going downtown and the A and E stopping going uptown (if the (E) can not use Chambers to terminate)..

Good.

(1) runs 242nd Street, Bronx-Chambers Street

Good.

(2) runs in two sections:

241st Street, Bronx-Chambers Street, Manhattan (local from 96th Street-Chambers Street)

Borough Hall (4) platform-Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn (skips Hoyt Street, which is closed

I don't think Chambers has that kind of capacity.

(3) runs in two sections:

148th Street-96th Street, Manhattan

Borough Hall (4) platform-New Lots Avenue, Brooklyn (skips Hoyt Street, which is closed

Why 96th St? That would interfere with other 2 trains, and there are plenty of other places to terminate it.

(4) runs Woodlawn-Brooklyn Bridge ONLY

Good.

(5) runs via the (2) 149th Street, Bronx to 14th Street-7th Avenue, Manhattan, where it terminates

It's OK

(M) is re-routed to the Nassau Street line.and along with the (J) runs through the Montague Street tunnel to replace (4) and (5) service between Brooklyn Bridge and Atlantic Avenue.

See Threxx's post.

(J) in Brooklyn runs to Brighton Beach as an express, replacing the (B) between DeKalb Avenue-Brighton Beach.

(M) runs via 4th Avenue and terminates at the 9th Avenue (D) station

This is the only thing I have a huge problem with. Why are you screwing with the B and D? If you're trying to up Montague service, there are many more practical options.

(A): Unchanged

(B): Unchanged

(C): Extend to JFK Airport

(D): Unchanged

(E): Extend to The Rockaways

(F): Unchanged

(G): Unchanged

(H): Extend to Euclid Avenue

(J): Extend to Brighton Beach

(N): Extend to LaGuardia

This is a thread to create G.O. solutions for realistic situations, not a fantasy... some people obviously don't realize that, but don't follow their lead. ;)

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEXT:

Because of debris in the tunnels at Atlantic Avenue, no BMT trains can stop or run through the station. All IRT lines must bypass the station.

Reroute the (B), (D), (N), (Q), and (R).

(Q) Runs between Stillwell and Prospect Park.

(R) Runs Three Sections: between 71st and Jay (I'm assuming montague is back up in this scenario) and between 95th and 36th brooklyn, with a single track shuttle train between 36th and 4th/9th.

(N) Runs Ditmars-Whitehall and Stillwell-59th brooklyn

(D) Runs Stillwell-9th Av, with limited runs to 36th st brooklyn that have to wrong-rail back out of the station, and Norwood-2nd Av.

(B) Runs via (F) through Rutgers and via Culver Express to Church then via (F) local.

Well, this is ugly.

Wow, uh, not a heck of a lot you can do there.

Single track the (G) between Bedford and Nassau.

Back everything behind the train stuck behind the work train out, dump passengers and lay up in the pocket track, or NB track depending on how many trains there are back there, Then run the train that was stuck as single track between Court and Greenpoint.

(G) trains run in 2 sections.

1. Between Court Sq and Greenpoint Av on single track. Trains leave from Court Sq-bound platform.

2. Between Nassau Av & Church Av. Trains run on single track on Church Av-bound tracks between Nassau Av & Bedford-Nostrand Avs.

Between Greenpoint and Nassau Avs, B43 and B62 bus will provide free-fare boarding at Greenpoint and Nassau Av stations during this time.

During these times, overnight shuttle buses will operate along B62 between these stations.

There will be more (E)(F)(L)(R) service during these times.

During this time, (M) will be extended to Queens Plaza.

(G) trains run normally between Church Avenue and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, then single track on the northbound express track to Metropolitan Avenue. Every other train terminates at Bedford-Nostrand.

(M) service runs overnight to Forest Hills until the issue with the work train is resolved. Customers are advised to transfer to the (L) at Metropolitan for further service.

The train stuck behind the work train will operate as a single-track shuttle from Court Square to Greenpoint Avenue. All other trains will lay-up at Jamaica Yard until further notice.

Due to Multiple Incidents along the (A) line these incidents have cut the (A) off from their terminals and short turn areas such as

Lefferts,Euclid, JFK, 168, and 207 reroute accordingly, if emergency bus service is needed so be it.

Elaborate please...

Im saying

Due to Multiple Incidents along the (A) and (C) line these incidents have cut the (A) and (C) off from their terminals and short turn areas such as

Lefferts,Euclid, JFK, 168, and 207 reroute accordingly, if emergency bus service is needed to help out.use it to your advantage

The incidents are

from 207-168th a police action necessitating the closing of the line on that segment(168 included)

A connected crime at the jfk and lefferts station

and 2 12-9's (1 suicide and 1 push) at euclid (happened on both sides train stuck on nb local and sb express but station is closed)

So no trains can run between 168th and 207th, and between Euclid and both terminals...

The (C) would also be affected at Euclid, BTW...

(A) trains operate between 168th Street and Broadway Junction, running local in Brooklyn. (C) trains terminate at World Trade Center.

Shuttle buses replace service between Broadway Junction and Lefferts Blvd. Transfer at Rockaway Blvd fo the Q52 and Q53, which have been beefed up to handle increased crowds. Use the (1) train for service north of 168th Street.

thank you caught the mistake myself

you got it right sort if

but since the police action is starting at 168 and goin up to 207th would that render 168th useless?

I doubt they'd be police action for such a long stretch... if that's the case, then the (C) would be rerouted to Bedford Park Blvd, and the (A) would relay in the 168th Street station, terminating at 163th Street.

im making the police action as a wanted man with an accomplice from a bank robbery ran into the tunnels at 168th and split from his accomplice at the station as in 1 could have ran into the relays or the other could have ran north to 207th and vice versa

Due to a lack of organization in the above scenario, I think a new one would be appropriate:

A structural failure (with the el) at Queensborough Plaza (7)(N)(Q) has resulted in no trains being able to pass through the station. Reroute trains accordingly.

(N) and (Q) cut to 57th street select trains run via (R) to Forest Hills

(7) Main street to 74th trains relay in 61st street and times square to hunters point trains relay in court square 23rd street. call casey stengel garage and have them give about 30 buses(15 each) to run emergency shuttles between hunters point and 74th street and queensboro plaza and ditmars blvd
