Wallyhorse Posted April 16, 2012 Share #497 Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) Why not just extend the to Coney Island instead of having that weird train thing. The problem is, you would in that scenario need more than a 150' train to cover the part to Coney Island, plus because after Botanic Garden the is single-tracked that creates its own problems. This to me is a compromise for something like this, having part of a split , reduced to 300' trains run via the shuttle tracks to Botanic Garden while a single train runs the two stops between Botanic Garden and Franklin Avenue. This is also where my previously suggested idea if they do rebuild the Franklin line anyway of going back to two tracks AND making all stations at least 480 (and preferably 600) feet would come in tremendously since as part of this, I would also build a connection between the existing Franklin Shuttle and remaining portion of the Myrtle Avenue Line (including a full rebuild of the upper level of Myrtle Avenue) for a new Myrtile-Brighton line (that I would call a "Black V") that can be a fuil-time local from Metropolitan to , plus for emergencies a connection from such line to the Broadway-Brooklyn line. In that scenario, the , if not running 75-foot cars could be run via that to the Broadway-Brooklyn line via the and then after Essex resume normal Manhattan service while the in an emergency can also run via 6th Avenue. With that said: 4 Av is out. GO. is suspended. runs as follows: From 205th Street-Bronx via regular route to West 4th, then via the to Coney Island (using the express tracks in both directions to Church Avenue and then (in the peak direction) via the elevated express track to Avenue X), then through Coney Island via regular route to 9th Avenue (the reverse is true to 205th Street). runs as follows: From Ditmars Boulevard to Brighton Beach (replacing the along the Brighton Line), then via the to Coney Island and then through Coney Island via regular route to 59th Street-4th Avenue, which would be the terminal and only station on 4th Avenue open (with the reverse true to Ditmars Boulevard). runs 71st Continental-Whitehall Street. runs as a local in Brooklyn. Shuttle bus runs from 95th Street to Atlantic-Pacific. Next: The 72nd Street/CPW station is closed due to an issue in the Dakota Apartments that police are concerned could spread to the station below if it were open. NEXT Because of a police investigation, the Eastern Pkwy express and Brighton tracks are closed and impassable in the vicinity of 7 Av. The local tracks are fine. Reroute trains, keeping tph in account. Please avoid through-running or extending the ...it's not realistic.
