An (A) train derails between Jay St and Hoyt St. No trains can stop at or pass through IND Jay St, Hoyt St, and Bergen St. Reroute (A)(C)(F)(G).

(A) No service between Chambers Street and Utica Avenue. Trains from Manhattan end at Chambers Street.

The process: arrives at Chambers Street on the southbound track, passengers exit and then reverses, enters the middle track, and then arrives at the northbound express track at Canal Street.

Trains from Queens runs local and terminate at Utica Avenue.

For Fulton Street, walk from Chambers Street.

For High Street, use York Street (F) via transfer at W 4 St.

For Jay St-MetroTech, Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets, Lafayette Avenue, Clinton-Washington Avenues, Franklin Avenue, Nostrand Avenue, Kingston-Throop Avenues and Utica Avenue, take B25 instead.

(C) No service between Canal Street and Euclid Avenue. (C) trains runs between 168 Street and World Trade Center, the last stop.

For service past Canal Street, use (A) instead.

(F) No service between 4 Avenue-9 Street and York Street.

Trains from Coney Island stop at Manhattan-bound platform, passengers exit, train leaves, switches to Manhattan-bound express track, and then switches to Coney Island-bound express track, and the train reverses. Then, it switches to Coney Island-bound local track and finally enters Coney-Island platform.

Trains from Manhattan stop on the Coney Island-bound platform, passengers exit, train goes out of service, and enters one of the two tracks where trains hold. This works because it doesn't go near Jay St-MetroTech. Then, the other train begins service and enters the Manhattan-bound platform.

For Jay St-MetroTech, Bergen Street, Carroll Street and Smith-9 Streets, use B57 instead.

For service between York Street and 4 Av-9 St, take (F) to 7 Av and transfer to B67/B69.

(G) No service between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Church Avenue.

For service to Classon Avenue, Clinton-Washington Avenues, Fulton Street and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets, take B38 instead.

For service to Bergen Street, Carroll Street, Smith-9 Streets, 4 Avenue-9 Street, 7 Avenue, 15 St-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway, or Church Avenue, use (F) and B38 and B67/69. May require an additional fare, ask for a courtesy pass instead.

Next:

Another (MTA) fight... it ended up so wrong that they hit some switches and turned off power east of 5 Avenue between 8 Street and 49 Street.

Strangely, (7) somehow didn't get turned off. Unfortunately, (L) wasn't lucky this time...

Scenario: LIC suffers an fissure volcanic eruption

Reroute: (7)(E)(F)(G)(M)(N)(R)(W)

Bonus: What would have happened to LIRR and Amtrak and what they would do?

This one’s easy: shut everything down until the volcanic activity has been confirmed to be down and safe. You don’t know if it affects a wider area.

Assuming infrastructure damage, this is what comes after:

  • (7): split
    • 34 Street–Hudson Yards to Grand Central–42 Street
    • 74 Street–Broadway to Flushing–Main Street
  • <7>: no service
  • (E): truncate
    • Northern Boulevard to Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer
  • (F): split
    • Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue to 57 Street
    • Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue to Jamaica–179 Street
  • (G): truncate
    • Church Avenue to Bedford–Nostrand Avenues
  • (M): truncate
    • Middle Village–Metropolitan Avenue to Delancey Street–Essex Street
  • (N): reroute
    • Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue to 96 Street
  • (R): truncate
    • Bay Ridge–95 Street to Lexington Avenue–59 Street
  • (W): no service

Next scenario (PM rush):

  • Gas leak from a nearby building causes a powerful explosion at 125 Street and Lexington Avenue, and pieces of the tunnel structure has fallen. The trains cannot pass through the debris.
  • Signal issues at 57 Street–7 Avenue has caused a traffic jam in the vicinity of the station that is spreading up and down the Broadway Line.
  • A road construction project has punctured the tunnel structure at Delancey Street–Essex Street (Nassau Street Line). There's debris on the tracks and platforms.
  • There's a track fire at the Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center station at the north end of the (D)(N)(R) platforms.

Manage the rush hour crowd with what you have left to work with.

(R): Runs from Forest Hills - 71 Ave to Court Sq and from 36 St to Bay Ridge - 95 St.

(W): Suspended.

(Z): Suspended.

Next (AM Rush):

An attempted murder occurs at Atlantic Ave - Barclays Center and the NYPD orders that no trains may pass through the station during the investigation.

A New York & Atlantic Railroad train on the LIRR Bay Ridge Branch derails near New Utrecht Ave - 62 St, causing structural damage to both levels.

As a result of East Side Access construction, a tunnel caves in underneath Northern Blvd and causes the (E), (F)(M), and (R) tracks as well as the road above to collapse, which in turn causes the (N) and (W) tracks to fall.

A bit late to this, this might take up to a week to fix if its bad enough:

(A) runs in two sections:
207th Street-Chambers Street (A) platform
Utica Avenue-Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard (no Rush Hour Rockaway Park service), Lefferts Boulevard trains are local in Brooklyn, Far Rockaway trains run express service between Utica Avenue and Euclid Avenue)

Also LIMITED (A) shuttle service between Chambers Street and High Street in Brooklyn

If a 480' train, (C) from 168th Street runs via the (M) and then (J) to Broadway Junction (J) platform (express in the peak direction with the (J) and (Z) running local to Broadway Junction).

If a 600' train, (C) runs 168th Street to Chambers Street (E) platform

(F) runs as follows:
Some (F) trains from 179th Street run via the Manhattan Bridge and are evenly split between the Brighton, Sea Beach and West End lines between Broadway-Lafayette St. and Coney Island (trains via the Brighton line are express, trains via Sea Beach or West End are express in the peak direction)

Some (F) trains from 179th Street terminate at Delancey Street

Some (F) trains from Coney Island run via regular route to 4th Avenue OR Smith-9th Streets ONLY

(G) runs from Court Square to Bedford-Nostrand Avenue with LIMITED shuttle service between Bedford-Nostrand Avenue and Hoyt Street

If the (C) is running via Broadway-Brooklyn to Broadway Junction:
Some (M) trains terminate at 2nd Avenue or Delancey Street (F) station
Select (J) and (Z) trains are re-routed to Metropolitan Avenue to replace (M) trains that are re-routed to and terminating at 2nd Avenue.

Scenario: a (D) train derails at DeKalb Av, causing no trains to be able to pass through there. Then, an (E) train derails at W4 St, affecting all service at W4.

Reroute: (A)(C)(E)(B)(D)(F)(M)(N)(Q)(R)

Not sure how the (D) and (E) can cause that much damage since they're on separate tracks.

(A) - reduced TPH to 12.

(C) - express b/w 145th St & Jay St

(E) - express b/w 34th St & Canal St

(D) - split service (Norwood-2nd Av via Local) (Atlantic Av-Coney Island)

(B) - suspended

(N) - Stops at DeKalb Av.

NEXT:

An electrical fire occurs right before Queens Plaza going to the east, damaging all tracks and cabling which require two months of planned reconstruction, no trains are able to pass through. Reroute the (E)(M) and (R). The (G) is not affected.

(E): WTC to Court Sq, Shuttle Bus Court Sq to 36 St

(M): Middle Village to 47-50 Sts, over (F)(Q) to 96 St

(R): Bay Ridge to 57-7, over (Q)(F) to 36 St, then normal route
