What If:

Due to animal rights protest at 85th St area that expanded onto 2nd Av Subway line, suspended entire 2nd Av corridor. (M)  (Q) can't access 2nd Av service but can access Lex Av-63rd St.

Affects (F)(M)(Q)

Assuming this is a weekend:

(F) is unaffected
(M) runs via CPW to 145th Street after 47-50.
(Q) runs to 21st-Queensbridge on the (F), where it terminates.

(F) unaffected, unless if planned work happens

(M) no service between Essex and 96 St. no, I'm not going to send up (M) to 145

(Q) terminates at 57 St-7 Av or via (N) to Astoria-Ditmars

Next:

(MTA) decides to close Joralemon, Montague, Clark, Cranberry and Rutgers Tunnels for extensive restoration, reconstruction and maintenance for 12 weeks, all-day. Not just nights and weekends.

In Weeks 1-6, Joralemon, Montague and Cranberry Tunnels are closed.

In Weeks 7-12, Clark and Rutgers Tunnels are closed.

Your challenge is to figure out a plan and reroute the affected lines for Weeks 1-6 and 7-12.

Can we please have realistic scenarios that do not involve freak derailments?

Anyways, moving on, I'll present a new kind of scenario:

Budget cuts force the MTA to cut down on station maintenance and as a result 8 stations will need to be closed. Keep in mind that you cannot simply close a station just on the basis of low ridership and you must also take into account proximity to other stations. Here are my 8:

Hewes St (J)(M)

Van Siclen (3)

Beverley (Q)

Neptune (F)

Classon (G)

Aqueduct Racetrack (A)

104th (A)

Van Siclen (J)
