Because of a structural failure, the express tracks at 34 St - Herald Sq are impassable. In addition, the local tracks can only accommodate 15 tph (per track).

Which line?

Next: Due to an extreme heat problem, NTTs can not run on any outside sections of track.

Switches:

Express tracks at Columbus Circle connect to 6th Avenue

Express tracks at 42nd Street connect to 53rd Street

All others are set to straight

(A) - Local between 125th Street and Canal Street

(B) - Suspended

(E) - Express between 42nd Street and Canal Street

And because I know a certain someone will give me some trains per hour crap about this, so there may be some delays having the (A)(C) crisscross with the (E) before WTC/Chambers, but it's only a combined 26tph and the (4)(5) have 30tph and handle the merging fine.

Simple...

(R): Extened to 179 Street.

(M): 168 Street, Manhattan-Metro Avenue, via (B) line along CPW. Use (R) at 34th St for LCL service.

(G): Extended to 179 Street.

I'm pretty sure 179 Street can handle the (F), (G), & (R).

C'mon, I was just joking. Back on topic before we start grammar school on this thread.

The entire Brighton Corridor from Prospect Park to DeKalb avenue is unusable. However, trains may stop at DeKalb or Prospect, but cannot travel within the corridor. How would you reroute the (B)(Q)? Use shuttle buses as a last resort.

Doing this one now as I've not been on for a few days (was VERY busy with Kentucky Derby week stuff):

This is very similar to what I previously did for a similar G.O. a while back, which in this case is:

(B) runs all times to and through Coney Island as follows:

From Prospect Park: Regular route to Brighton Beach, then through Coney Island to Manhattan via West End Express and 4th Avenue Express to DeKalb Avenue

To Prospect Park: From Manhattan via regular route to DeKalb Avenue, then via 4th Avenue Express to 59th Street, via SeaBeach Express to Coney Island and through Coney Island to Brighton Beach and then regular route to Prospect Park.

(Q) is shortened to five-car 300' trains and runs from Coney Island-Botanic Garden (S) station, using the Prospect Park-bound side to terminate (transfer to the (2)/(3)/(4)/(5) at Botanic Garden-Franklin Avenue for Atlantic Avenue and ((2)/(3) only) Grand Army Plaza-7th Avenue).

Franklin Avenue (S) is reduced to a single, two-car train running single-track between Botanic Garden (Franklin Avenue-bound platform) and Franklin Avenue.

Extra (N) service runs Astoria-34th Street (transfer to (B) at 34th) as needed.

An R32 (N) train has broken down in the middle of switching onto the Express track between Canal and Prince Sts. The Work train comes on the downtown Express track to help out.

In essence, the only thing usable on the Broadway past 34 St/Herald Square is the Downtown Local track.

Why an R32? Won't happen...

(N): 2 sections: 42 Street-Ditmars Blvd & Pacific St-Coney Island

(R): Normal southbound service. Northbound service runs via (D) & (M), Pacific St-36 St, Queens

(Q): No service. (J) extended to Coney Island to replace (Q).

For service in Manhattan, use southbound (R).

(R) Single tracked, with select trains short turned at Canal St\(To ease congestion some trains skip 49th St)

(Q) Replaced with the Orange (Q), Runs on the (M) in Manhattan and Queens.

42Nd st Shuttle Runs on (7) line, to Astoria, making all stops, with eleven cars.

Disregarding tph,(I haven't got a clue what that's all about, know what it stands for) here's my way:

(A) remain normal

(B) suspended

(C) remain normal

(D) rerouted via 8th avenue

(E) normal

(F) normal

(M) normal

(N) additional service to help out Astoria and the (Q)

(Q) terminates at Atlantic Avenue, alternate trips end at Prospect Park unused shuttle track (move the layup out) due to wrong railing in the tunnel, take the (R) or next (Q) to continue your trip

(R) additional service to help out the (Q), alternate trips run over the Manhattan Bridge.

If you want to run that, you would need staff on the platform to help people over the gap, and trains would have to wait awhile for people to board.

Plus, won't the BMT-IRT switch get worked out from continous switching after barely being used since the 1950's?

Let me just say that the amount of foaming in these answers is just sickening. There are such simple and obvious reroutes for these scenarios.

(N) runs between Whitehall Street and Coney Island LOCAL

(Q) runs between 34th Street and Astoria ( (B) runs local in Brooklyn)

Brooklyn bound (R):

via the (F) between 36th Street, Queens, and Rockefeller Center

via the (B)(D) between Rockefeller Center and Dekalb Avenue

NEXT:

Due to a train derailment, the Brooklyn bound local (F)(M) track at Broadway-Lafayette is blocked off. Try to be as realistic as possible, and try to make the changes least confusing to the average rider.

(M) Trains run to Chambers or Broad Sts.

Agreed.

(F) Brooklyn-bound trains run via the (C) from West 4 St to Jay St.

(M) No trains between Essex St and 71 Av (trains run to Chambers St).

NEXT (let's avoid the foam here):

Because of a switch control failure, the switches in Homeball Alley cannot be switched. This means everything between 125 St and 145 St on CPW.
