Statensirt Posted September 23, 2015 Share #5176 Posted September 23, 2015 @brakeman what do you mean the rule book has wrong signal in it ? @eriknyc why do you say working weekends for the next 10 or more years ? this is scary
ErikNYC Posted September 23, 2015 Share #5177 Posted September 23, 2015 @brakeman what do you mean the rule book has wrong signal in it ? Not updated, and/or not the full definition of a signal. you instructor will give you the full definition, and will expect you to recite and remember it. Don't worry too much it will work out, as long as you put the work in. Like someone said in an earlier post, an hour of studying everyday should do the trick. Brakeman Posted September 23, 2015 Share #5178 Posted September 23, 2015 There are a few, your TSS will let you know which ones, The rulebook is copyright 2003 and the MTA has not updated it.. You will soon learn that the most consistent thing about the MTA is inconsistency!

LexAveExp5 Posted September 23, 2015 Share #5180 Posted September 23, 2015 That's when you post on every single B division line. Including the Franklin Ave Shuttle. I didn't post on the Franklin Ave shuttle until I was OPTO qualified. Did that change?
tprashad0719 Posted September 23, 2015 Share #5181 Posted September 23, 2015 Hey Erik ,can you state what example was asked if not don't worry just looking for examples..how many questions? ErikNYC Posted September 24, 2015 Share #5182 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Hey Erik ,can you state what example was asked if not don't worry just looking for examples..how many questions? Was it everything they went over ..are there signals that we don't need to bother knowing? How did the rest of the class do? I can't talk about it, but you WILL be prepared when that time comes, as long as you did your part at home.... Enjoy ur weekends to yourself. The test had twenty five questions, and can be any combination of about eighty signals. Your TSS will let you know about any signal that are not in your division. Breaker013 Posted September 24, 2015 Share #5186 Posted September 24, 2015 I was making good money at my previous job and decided to take the pay cut to work for MTA. Between the health benefit and not paying for transportation I'm actually making more money working here.

ErikNYC Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5191 Posted September 25, 2015 So 2 months into training and you took your signal final? Yup, first signal test, after about seven weeks of training. Take away a week that you spend in orientation. You and the rest of the class will be counting the weeks. lol

ErikNYC Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5195 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) Cool erik ,appreciate it bro what time your in tomorrow? And where? So how your in the A division your in A division yards? Tomorrow im in at 9am, it was suppose to be a road day, but we will be practicing for our practical on Monday. The the following week I will be posting for two weeks, go back to the school for a day, then back to posting for two months. Yup A division, means you will be in A division yards for the most part. Statensirt Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5197 Posted September 25, 2015 I have been hearing a lot about posting. What does this mean exactly ?
Running on Rails Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5198 Posted September 25, 2015 @Statensirt...Posting is when you train every line with the T/O assigned to that job for that day. It's basically learning the line, route and signals. It's like you're posting to qualify to work each line whether your on the A or B division. But division is longer because it has more lines than the A division. The A division has only 7 lines. @mikeems1...."Currently on an outstanding certification means DCAS has sent your name to MTA for future consideration. Statensirt Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5199 Posted September 25, 2015 thanks @running on rails that sounds interesting. I have another question. I observed a TSS jump on a train halfway through its run. Was that Tss observing the TO ?
Running on Rails Posted September 25, 2015 Share #5200 Posted September 25, 2015 @Statensirt, you mean did the TSS hopped on the train as a regular passenger or was he with the Train Operator?
