Orion VII 4 Life Posted November 17, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2011 Woah, the orange stripe buses are owned by Nassau so, if anything, you'd think the MTA would be getting the NGs, but those are confirmed going to Veolia. Maybe they're already planning some very "NICE" service cuts and sold some Orion Vs to the MTA. Can't wait to find out more about this.
Q43LTD Posted November 17, 2011 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2011 LI's O5's at CP? This is most interesting
Engr08 Posted November 17, 2011 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2011 It would be "NICE" to see some of those cng buses at WF.
NewFlyer 230 Posted November 17, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 17, 2011 Please no more old buses and not orion v cng's:(. Was it the 2003-4 model.
Ty24 Posted November 17, 2011 Share #7 Posted November 17, 2011 Maybe the older 2000 units
Joel Up Front Posted November 17, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 17, 2011 NGs would break down before they got into Queens, anyway. The 2003 order is still running strong (though I barely see them anymore) and the 2000 Orion Vs just need a bit of a tune-up. Bus numbers?
T J Trainman Posted November 18, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 18, 2011  Thats odd!!!! I guess the current stuff they have now is really on their last legs.

aemoreira81 Posted November 18, 2011 Share #12 Posted November 18, 2011 I have no reason to not believe this...but I have to wonder if these are buses that will be stripped for parts before being sent to the graveyard---that is, is Nassau County clearing out its retired buses from Mitchel Field so that they don't even have any non-NICE scrap buses in Nassau? Hound Posted November 18, 2011 Share #15 Posted November 18, 2011 The LIB buses are being sent to College Pt. & Grand Ave for repairs in order to pass DOT inspection. Evidently, it's in agreement with Veolia that these buses have to be in good condition & ready to roll by Jan. 1st. LIB does not have enough parts or manpower to accomplish this. As a result of so many buses being out of service, dozens of runs are not going out on a daily basis. Drivers on 2nd halves of splits are even having their runs curtailed & being used for transporting these buses.

Funny its the Vs that aren't passing inspection and the NGs are, unlike what everyone else expects.

East New York Posted November 19, 2011 Share #25 Posted November 19, 2011 Holy crap. I would have never guessed this happening. Why not? There would be no reason for them to go with any other manufacture. Not to mention it would not be conducive to NICE's bottom line at all. During a transition like this, Veolia's goal is to do what's best for the operation overall. Unless they start running express service, there is no reason for drastic fleet changes.
