Central Branch schedule?

It isn't really public. There is a schedule (employee one) for use when there's no problems at all, but whether Montauk trains get routed down the Main or the Central is at dispatcher discretion once any problem no matter how minor develops on either line.

The only trains sure to go down the Central are those which make stops in Mineola and/or Hicksville before continuing to Babylon.

Hi. I know a thread for this branch was already created, but there was an open end. So does anybody know the times tables for this branch? The NY&AR uses it too-do they have a schedule?

you have to guess, that's really the best way. I'm not sure what you are looking to do here, ride it? or get photos trackside from it?

If you see that theres a Montauk train that ends in Babylon and its not a change at babylon for penn station and it goes thru all the way to Jamaica, you can kinda figure it out. It's tougher to estimate the eastbound trains, and NY&A is even more difficult to guess.

As far as I know, there is only one Montauk thru train that does NOT go thru the Central branch and that is the friday afternoon express train.

For the Montauk Branch trains: Look at the schedule for the train numbers, and for the depart Babylon time, add between 5~20 min to it westbound and subtract 5~20 min from it eastbound, depending on where on the branch you are.

Definitely use the branch, assuming no problems elsewhere:

Eastbound Weekdays: 2702, 2706, 2772, 2778, 2734, 2716

Westbound Weekdays: 2733, 2703, 2707, 2745, 2711

Definitely do NOT use the branch, once again assuming no problems:

Eastbound Weekdays: 2764 (via Babylon, late morning rush), any train with a "T" for stops after Babylon

Westbound Weekdays: 2735 (actually runs via Rosedale/Laurelton/Locust Manor after Valley Stream interestingly enough), 2709 (can't run westbound on the Main / Central during the PM rush, runs via Babylon / St Albans), any train with a "T" for stops before Babylon

Everything else, including deadheads, weekends, or other weekday trains without a Babylon transfer is not set in stone. Hope this helps
