7LineFan 256 Posted June 19, 2008 Share #8 Posted June 19, 2008 If the GMC RTS-04 was there I'd pick that, but it's not, so I have to go with the Orion VII HEV. Both models, it doesn't matter.

I Run Trains 372 Posted June 26, 2008 Share #11 Posted June 26, 2008 What's the difference between a Nova RTS-6 and a TMC RTS-6?
trainfan22 2,195 Posted June 26, 2008 Share #12 Posted June 26, 2008 What's the difference between a Nova RTS-6 and a TMC RTS-6? Some TMC RTS got repowered wheres nova RTSs did not. TMC RTS orinallly were street extust buses then they got rebuilt to be roof extust RTSs. Wheres nova RTS were roof extust buses from when they were new. And the PBL lines didn't have any nova RTSs. All of the PBL TMC RTSs had roof extust systems. Heres an pic of an TMC RTS before it got repowered. http://www.ttmg.org/photos/tlogan/NYCB_TMC_8493.jpg Heres another pic of an SE RTS... http://www.ttmg.org/photos/tlogan/NYCB_TMC_4873.jpg Heres an pic of an repowered RTS. http://www.ttmg.org/photos/tlogan/NYCB_TMC_8099.jpg Also nova RTS go faster than RP RTSs. The TMC RTSs when they were SE were FAST buses. But the repowering slowed them down. Hope that helps. EDIT Some TMC RTS were never repowered the 4XX RTS that used to run out of UP and FP. Stayed SE buses their whole lifes. Sadly these buses were scrapped http://gallery.bustalk.info/displayimage.php?pid=7314&fullsize=1 And you could look at the builder plate. Which is in front of the bus on the right hand side you can't miss it.
East New York 4,103 Posted June 27, 2008 Share #13 Posted June 27, 2008 What's the difference between a Nova RTS-6 and a TMC RTS-6? Other than what trainfan22 said, they are basically identical. Expecially 1992-1994 TMC's, and 1995-2003 Nova's. Just 2 different owners. The late GMC and TMC's are vertually the same too.

Orion 27 Posted June 28, 2008 Share #15 Posted June 28, 2008 Orion V CNG from MTA Bus Company, that is really the best bus in MTA. It is very fast, never broke down on me, sometime has soft seats on the QBx1, very nice seating arrangements and variety of interiors, great sound, great looks, and drivers drive them fast. It also has 6 gears! Lots of power and speed. Drivers also love them.
