Shortline Bus Posted December 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 14, 2011 "WCBS/Ch. 2 and WLNY/Ch. 55 will soon become siblings under a deal for the CBS Television Stations Group to buy the Long Island TV outlet. Once the deal is finalized, CBS will own two stations in town and is expected to make significant changes to WLNY. “Our acquisition of WLNY-TV presents a tremendous opportunity for our TV Stations Division,” said Peter Dunn, president of the CBS Television Stations. “The combined strengths of CBS 2 and WLNY-TV will give us a terrific platform for serving the entire New York area.” Dunn said in the statement that plans for the station include adding people and a “significant expansion of local news program well beyond the nightly half-hour that currently airs.” Terms of the deal were not disclosed."
