Student tries to assault conductor on lexington ave line

2 days ago, i was at the parkchester 6 train station in the bronx, usually about 3:00pm mon-fri,everyday there are unruly school kids, that annoy passengers and mta personnel with running on train platform, play fighting, etc. They need more of a police presence at that station, before someone gets hurt.as a downtown train pulled out the station,a kid swung a book bag at the conductor's face, then spit, this is a outrage against workers! Something must be done before a conductor is brutally assaulted or seriously injured! God forbid what is the procedure if a conductor is hit, while a train is in motion?

Kids these days are more and more unrully and 'savages'. The subways/buses should not be the main sources of school transport. Those kids [unless they took special exams to go to their preferred schools of choice] should be going to schools in their own district than going 'across the city'. Transport fewer kids and then there would be enough cops to spread out to manage the 'mobs'.

Not every kid should be considered stupid or annoying. There are kids and teenagers who KNOW how to act in public. Those who don't know how to, I don't blame them, I blame the parents for NOT being a parent the correct way!

I of course can't stand PM rush hours or even days when school kids are out, some of them are pesty..

Sorry for what happened to the C/R. He could of also called in that he was attacked by a student. Even tho it may not help if the kid runs off.

Kids are starting that s*** up again, spitting at & chucking things at conductors.....When I went to school, kids did that BS @ brighton beach (which coincidentally happens to be an elevated platform).... Not that it makes a difference what grade the station happens to be on.....

I don't know how (or if) the police presence is situated at that station, so I can't say if there needs to be more or not..... usually, stations that see heavy student usage has at least one cop present for a certain amt. of time..... Much as some would like to have cops on all our buses & trains, we can't go too crazy w/ that, as it would detract from other (often, more serious) matters that police will be needed for......

You aint kiddin about this breed of kids out here... as they say, teens will be teens or w/e, but it seems to me that a greater percentage of 'em are acting out in more violent/dangerous ways... for whatever the reason(s), which is a whole 'nother topic.....

However, I don't agree that:

a] students shouldn't be using public transportation (or as you put it, their main source of transport), nor do I feel that....

b] ....a kid should be confined/forced to attend to the nearest high school on the sole basis of where he/she resides.....

If that's the case, I'd have went to wingate (ughk), or whatever they call it now, over there by KCH...... Remember, certain schools focus on certain subjects/shop classes over others... so that would be like forcing a student to take a certain shop class or w/e, just based on where they live....

Teenagers are exposed to a lot these days. They are mostly exposed to violence and bad influences like Jersey Shore and Grand Theft Auto, and with porn it's a deadly combo.

...what is the procedure if a conductor is hit, while a train is in motion?

I learn from old-timers.

The train crew or any TA employee must be resolute in understanding that even being spat on IS AN ASSAULT! The Emergency Brake Valve must be activated and Control Center called and DO NOT let them try to downplay the situation—request EMS and Police. I don't know if that little bastard just gave me Herpes, do you understand? This lets the public know that YOU take yourself seriously, too... someone screws with the crew, they screw with its operation and its service and they SCREW WITH YOU'RE GETTING HOME OR TO WORK ON TIME! Let him or them deal with the passengers I'm about to let loose onto the platform... I might not be able to retaliate but I sure am not going to react really fast if the crowd decides to...

These days, you can't even hit your own kid for being stupid. They've been emboldened to do a lot of things kids wouldn't do decades ago.

Try me. My dad beat my ass when I was young and got out of hand and I love my dad to death... I'll be damned or dead before I leave little a-holes in my wake.

No, I'll call ACS for you and see who gets taken out of this house...

it's the same two groups ALWAYS...snotty spoiled rich kids who think they own the planet and ghetto trash that's gonna grow up and contribute nothing to society that just wants to "be clownin" all the time and if someone gets hurt like pushing a shopping cart off a roof onto an old lady or whacking a transit employee in the face with a bag well "shit n***a i ain't mean ta do dat" and all is well in their eyes.

they need fathers with belts, tempers, and strong arms to beat that ass back in line since society's not allowed to do that anymore.

and the saddest part is EVERYONE knows it. it's not a race thing. i've heard these "little G's" wilin' out on the train, and you look around, and you see ALL people - black, white, hispanic, indian, ALL SHAKING THEIR HEADS. every other word out their mouth is f***, s***, and n****. And you know in ten years they're just gonna waste yours and my tax dollars in and out of the court system and the prison system.

Exactly! And, trust me, this problem isn't only in the States. I see plenty of those idiots here, too..

They need to stick those damn kids onto school buses. Let them kill each other on there rather than having the public have to deal with their BS.

Naughty list? Those kids should be thrown into jail with the inmates and then we'll see how tough they are.

Let's just say Bubba would have new toys to play with.

All it takes is most of them. Since they want to act like fools, they should be sent to the foolish house when they hurt someone. You know, the foolish house with the metal bars.

I of course can't stand PM rush hours or even days when school kids are out, some of them are pesty..

They need to have 'em isolated in one car by themselves with no emergency brake valve and no storm door.

This post is a winner!

Not all teens are wild savages. I am an 18 year old and from the time of 13 to now I haven't don't anything that would be considered wrong in front of society. Sure I had my immature moments, and my hormones raged, but I didn't commit crimes, or things like that.

Of course not every teen is like that. I too am what you described about yourself. I'm saying, most teens today are just asking for trouble!

I'd "Like" this post except I can't see the "Like" button. :( I think it's because of the computer I'm using.

In any case, I wonder what the percentage is of kids who are going to a school outside their neighborhood just for the hell of it. I'd propose that Student MetroCards be given out if the student gets beyond a certain grade (say, 80), or if they can get recommendations for teachers (in the case of special ed kids without behavioral problems)

Teenagers are exposed to a lot these days. They are mostly exposed to violence and bad influences like Jersey Shore and Grand Theft Auto, and with porn it's a deadly combo.

I don't see what porn has to do with this, but in any case, I've never cared for either of those things (or porn).

One question (serious one): Does it count as an assault if you (or any bodily fluid) never comes into contact with the employee? Like if you get into an argument with a B/O and say "I should beat you to a pulp" or "I should kill you", but never actually do anything, can you still get arrested?

I'm asking because I remember reading something about assault, and it said that if you raise a hand to somebody, it's assault, and if you actually hit them, it's battery. (And then there's menacing, which I don't know how it is different from assault).

Of course, I've never been involved in any situation where it's actually gotten to that point where I was making threats or anything, but I was just curious.

Sad, but true. I've seen loud obnoxious kids on practically every route I've rode around schooltime.

And it's kids like that who give kids like us a bad name. My average in high school is 100+ (and most of my friends are in the 90s and high 80s), but unfortunately there are more than enough "bad" kids to balance us out.

In general, making verbal threats specifically aimed at someone, not only a transit worker (e.g. "I should beat you") is enough to warrant calling police, and that person will get into some sort of legal trouble, or at least be asked to leave, assuming there is some witness or something along those lines.

Now, getting angry and just yelling things at someone like "I am so pissed that this bus/train is late!" is not enough to be considered a threat or to warrant a police presence, unless you get angry enough for long enough that someone actually feels threatened.

Of course, these situations start to border on the grey areas, and it may depend on the situation, and who exactly said what to whom.

Unfortunately, most of these kids dont have fathers they live with. and that's the problem without a father these teens think they can do whatever they want.

A friend of mine, who works in a public school, told me, he had one kid in his class who has a father & he's the most behaved kid!

Yeah, this happened on a (2) train once. A group was "talking" very loud & as soon as they exited the train, everybody was shaking their heads out of disappointment.

If anyone was to threat me while I'm operating a 20 ton bus, i would immediately pull over and take the bus out of service. I cant distinguish if you talking smack or the real deal. I'm in no way going to jeopardize other peoples lives either on or outside the bus including mine. I would hit my panic button tell everyone this bus is out of service and prepare to defend myself. There are very sick and unstable people in the world and they do ride buses and trains. You also have to realize that the bus can do so much damage so fast and i wont take that chance. I would hope that it does warrant arrest you not only affecting me but the people on now being delayed along with everyone else further on down the line also being delayed.

The 4 is pretty bad as well. I used to take it when I was in high school:

Mosholu Parkway - DeWitt Clinton kids (usually rowdy)

Bedford Park - Bronx Science + Lehman kids (loud, but they don't screw around that much) I was a Bx Sci kid so this was my regular station

Kingsbridge Road: I have no ******* clue what school these kids come from, but they act like ******* hyenas
