Splitting The Q89

Mta Bus Should Make The Q89 Stay At JFK Depot And Basley Park Depot. Who's With Me.

The Q89 barely has enough service to be running out of JFK let alone JFK and BP. If I remember correctly, there are only 2 buses on that route a day so in a sense one would be a JFK bus and the other BP bus. You would do better splitting a Jamaica Depot route with BP Depot.

Ha I beg to differ lol I say Q44 should remain with Casey Stengel

BLAH!!!!!!! WHY DO YOU BED TO DIFFER? BECAUSE THE Q44 IS A QUEENS ROUTE YOU FEEL IT SHOULD BE IN A QUEENS DEPOT? WHAT'S YOUR REASON?

MY REASON IS IS TAKE THIS LONG ASS BUS RIDE EVERYDAY FROM JAMAICA TO WEST FARMS WHEN I GET ON IN THE MORNING THE BUS IS FULL BY TIME YOU GET TO PARKCHESTER AND THAT'S NOT EVEN 1/4 OF THE ROUTE! AND THEN I HATE WAITING FOR THE DRIVERS TO SWITCH AT MAIN STREET. WEST FARMS IS CLOSER TO THE BEGINNING OF THE ROUTE IN THE Bx ANYWAY (2 stops away AFTER the stop in front of WF)..

SO I SAY GIVE IT TO WEST FARM BECAUSE IT CAN RUN THE ARTICS ON THAT LINE! OR AT LEASE DO A RUSH HOUR SPLIT.....

SO ONCE AGAIN I SAY Q44 TO WEST FARMS ONLY BECAUSE OR THE ARTICS!

Bus drivers always change shifts and it doesn't matter what route it is either....they do that on the Q111/Q113 route all the time. Yes my reasoning is b/c its a Queens route so it remain @ Casey Stengel. If you think thats a long route and its Limited.....you try sitting on that bus 10+ yrs ago when it was local all the way to The Bronx. You know many ppl agreed and disagreed about the Q44 using Artics. I agree it should use the Artics during AM and PM rush hours. Trust and believe the (MTA) will not split the Q44 b/w WF and CS and technically the Q44 should split b/w JAM and CS since the last stop is Jamaica Merrick Blvd-Archer Ave and the JAM depot is like 3-4 blocks away.

Oh trust me pimpin we are close in age and I been busfanning since I was 7 so I know how the Q44 was 10 years ago, But it you wanna make it a case of Routes staying in there Boro let point this out . The M100 is a Manhattan bus, In a Bx in depot (and KB is in Manhattan) what about the Q24? That in a Brooklyn Depot.... Fresh Pond is a Brooklyn Depot with a number of Queens routes as well as Grand....

At one point i remember the Q44 was split with Jamaica and CS and I agree that Jamaica should get the 44 back. There won't be no Bus drive change in the Middle of the route. . And yes I'm awate that all buses change drivers, but on some route where the depot is close to the route, they switch at the beginning of the route, not the middle and that's what I meant by the Q44 at Main St. Its it was out of WF Or JAM, there wouldn't be no switch at main street. Just at 180 in the bronx or 165 in queens....

Oh and about that split with CS and WF, I believe anythings possible because one driver I know on the Q44 was telling me there been talks about running the Q44 out for WF with artics. And I was told this a year ago, and thought that was a good idea!

And a year later they are still no Artics on the Q44 from WF so it shows that WF is full of themselves.

Same difference lol....nah I misread it....if (MTA) would stop being dumb fools and work out an agreement with New Flyer then the Q44 would have Artics.

Might as well restate something I said somewhere else...

If I remember correctly, I was on the Q44 going into the Bronx, and it made a pretty tight turn somewhere, where there probably wouldn't be enough clearance for an artic to turn. That's probably why you don't see artics on the 44, although it really needs them.

I dunno man.... I just retracked the whole Q44 route and the Bronx and i cant recall any tight turns in the Bx. It ride down big streets all the way.. Hmmmmm.. Let me think again...............

In Queens going into the Bronx, I meant. Even the intersection of Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue would be a tight turn for the artics, but I think that tight intersection is somewhere near the Whitestone Bridge...

Ok.. I thought about it... you might be talking about that left turn onto westchester Ave under the train.... that's the only turn I can think about turning under that el into traffic!

You mean whitestone... when going on the highway to the whitestone.

Yeah I fixed it. But still, there are some tight turns in Queens, even for the Orion Vs.

You are right about the turns on Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. When the Q113 had the Artics they had squeeze on the turns from Liberty Avenue onto Guy R. Brewer Blvd and that part of the street is narrow.

The Q44 should definitely run artics, and be routed out of West Farms.

Again, in some places, there just isn't enough clearance for artics to turn, especially in Flushing, where the streets are crowded. Even the Orion Vs have a hard time turning most of the time, especially from Main Street to Roosevelt Avenue and vice versa. I doubt an artic could make that turn.

Artics turn much better than you think. :D

BTW I'm all up for this WF depot run for the Q44, even though they won't use CNGs, trust me they won't even if WF wen't with the Q44. CurAke, I know you don't like WF because they have the Orion VII CNGs, but they also have alot of Artics and Orion Vs to compensate. Let's not forget they got some TMC RTS up in there. West Farms should've ran the Q44 from the start... BTW I read somewhere that the Bx15 doesn't become limited since it's a CNG route, if they was ran by KB (or West Farms Orion Vs), they would scrap the Bx55 and add some Bx15 limited service.

Slightly off topic: I'm pretty the M100 out of KB makes sense, it's the fact that Bronx routes run out of KB. First of it's a Bx Depot in Manhattan and it's not exactly near the Kingsbridge nor Kingsbridge Heights neighborhoods. There several other things that are very wrong with that depot and its buses but I'm not going to get started on that.

Back on topic: If an artic can make that tight turn on the Bx12 local at Sedgwick, they can do it in Flushing. There would have to be some changes done in terms of people parking and driving on Main and Roosevelt but it's doable.

Even more on topic: Once again the Q44 can't run either full time or split out of West Farms. It's not because it's a Queens route or because of Flushing. Where would WF be getting these Artics from to put on the Q44, KB?, GH? God Forbid they make the Bx shortage worse in favor of Q44 riders. There are already several other lines at WF that need Artics (Bx15,36) before they could even think about the Q44.

The Bx15 doesn't really need artics, they got the Bx55 to cover most of the work in the Bronx (atleast when it's running). Not many people take the local Bx15 unless they have no choice or if the 15 comes before the 55 in the Bronx. As for the 36... Atleast they're trying, I see artics every morning AM Rush, same for the Bx8 and Bx31. (Okay why give the Bx8 2 artics?) Anyways I think if WF had enough Artics, the Bx15 Limited would be made to replace the 55. If they stopped wasting Artics on the 31 and 8, then thier Artic shortage wouldn't be as bad...
